Excel saveas Text File

I have an Excel file that contain special characters like ç and in my code I'm saveing the file as text file

VB

xlSheet.SaveAs(FileName, Excel.XlFileFormat.xlUnicodeText)

I tried xlUnicodeText & xlTextWindows

But the text file display it as c and not ç

How to display the ç???

How are you viewing the text file? Are you sure it's not the viewer doing the translation back to 'c'

I don't care just to be ab .txt file since I'm using stream reader to read the data and insert them in my database but I need to save the ç as it is in my excel to match it with my database records.

No need to be touchy.
You refer to a text file and we want to know how you view your that text file.
Some editors, like Notepad, doesn't handle special characters very well by default.
So if you explain exactly what you are doing, you might get the help you need.
Being rude will not get you there.

I just select the excel and click a button. what it do is it save the file as txt file and read that file and match records in my database and make insert to database but it is not matching my string that contain the ç and when I open my txt file i find it c not ç

When I open the file its displaying it as c and and i want to read that and match it to values in my database that contain ç and it is not matching ç to c. Did you see the problem here?

If you open a cmd window and use type FileName (substitute the actual fully pathed filename) do you see ç ?

Do you mean: special character inside the file content or inside file name?

Are you loosing text encoding just after SaveAs(Text format) command has been called?

Sure after i use this command xlSheet.SaveAs(FileName, Excel.XlFileFormat.xlUnicodeText) THE TEXT FILE IS GENERATED and when I open it i find the ç as c

I tested it on my machine. All works fine with SaveAs (Unicode Text)!

What System.Text.Encoding value are you using on your StreamReader?

Try using StreamReader(filename, System.Text.Encoding.ANSI).
If that doesn't work try System.Text.Encoding.UTF8
