Hello Codeproject,

It's me Deviant Sapphire again and I haven't been on here for a while. I've been searching on multiple websites about how to gain a couple of viewers on my livestream, and I thought I could just gain them by loading the stream in multiple browsers.

However, as I tested clearly that did not work, and I came to the logical conclusion that it had to do with my IP address, and it only adds viewers on each IP address. So, I did some Googling and found out that proxies are something I can use to do this.

Here are a couple of questions:
- What are proxies?
- Are proxies safe?
- Can I link a proxy to a webbrowser control?
- Are proxies legal?

Oh, also before you think I am going to make a bot to gain my popularity on livestreaming this is not the case. I just want to feel more confident streaming, and learning a bit more about the Internet.

Thanks a lot even for reading this,

- Deviant

Edit: Any short links to information about them and C# are appreciated.

Also if you think* I'm sorry for sounding rude, this was not my intention -- just poor writing skills. :p

I must say, you don't sound rude at all (in contrast some posts which really happen to be rude).
But you are not quite certain. I think you should start with pointing out some more narrow meaning of the term "proxy", which is too wide. Any examples or links? Otherwise, you should better ask yourself "what are proxies?" Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy...

Perhaps you meant "proxy server"? But a proxy server is a server, not proxy... :-)

And asking "are proxies legal?" is almost as ridiculous as asking if the '+' operator is legal or not :-).

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. I was looking at a few articles before skipping back here, and I finally understand what a proxy is, and the server.

I must ask though, you have answered quite a few of my questions a while back, and you seem to be incredibly helpful. Could I add you on for instance Skype, or Email? By the way, thanks for the Wikipedia!
