Hi I am coming up with a image conversion tool for the pocket PC and smartphone. SOme of the authors have came up with really cool applications for windows. Is there anyway I can do it for pocket pc?

hi,
i'm tring to set up a Bluetooth connection between 2 PDA's,
and i want to use WSALookupServiceBegin(),WSALookupServiceNext() and
WSALookupServiceEnd() functions,but after i've included the "Winsock2.h"
and added the "Ws2.lib" to the project,i allways get these messages:
TexampleDlg.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "int __cdecl WSALookupServiceEnd(void *)" (?WSALookupServiceEnd@@YAHPAX@Z) referenced in function "unsigned int __cdecl GetMessages(void *)" (?GetMessages@@YAIPAX@Z)
ARMV4Rel/BTexample.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 3 unresolved externals
Error executing link.exe.
BTexample.exe - 4 error(s), 0 warning(s)
(i get the same error for the 3 functions).
can someone help me?
one more question : do i have to write the full path of the required library?
for example - the "Ws2.lib" full path is "D:\Lib\Armv4\Ws2.lib" and i wrote
this path,but i keep getting these errors/
please help me!!!!!

Hi Everybody,
I have created the application for slideshow functionality. In this application whenever the user presses the "Play" button, it displays the sequence of bitmaps and jpeg files in the view. The "Play" function works well without thread. But if we implement the "Play" functionality with thread, it crashes the application when accessing the CPaintDC.
We go for thread, b'cos the slideshow must be interrupted in middle.
We want to know about is there any restrictions on threads accessing DC or is there any other way to solve this.

hi,
one soltn may be the following,
threads can use only global members (variables). so u declare global variable for cview and Cframewnd and assign as following , if u want to
use any screen control within the thread
framewndobj = (CFrameWnd *) AfxGetMainWnd();
viewobj = framewndobj ->GetActiveView ();
control = viewobj->method to access the control needed
even it it is cpaintdc obj u declare the variable of cpaintdc as a global variable beore using it in a thread
it won't crash then i think

Hello every buddy,
Imagine I plan to provide two separate interfaces for two category of my web app clients those from desktop pcs and those with Pocket PCs with Windows CE.
How can I distinguish between the two group? I guess 'user agant' sent by the client is all I need. I have no experience with a Pocket PC, can you tell me how this 'user agant' looks like?
Also I appreciate any short and usefull resources, articles and tips regarding web app developing and designing for Pocket PC clients.

HI~
I am writing C# and use the CF to write mobile application.
I use the input panel control.
The input panel control provide "EnabledChanged" event handler
I write something like this:
inputPanel1.EnabledChange += new System.EventHandler(this.whenChange);
And then I write:
if (inputPanel1.Enable)
{
inputPanel1.Enable = false;
}
This of course will cause the program execute the "whenChanged(Object sender, SystemArgs e)".
The expected result is happened in the emulator. However, testing the program in a real device cause error. The event handler does not execute. That means the "whenChange(..)" method does not execute.
Why this happen?

HI Everybody,
Recently I have Installed in EVC++ 4.0. It is working fine. After compliling the program I am not able to find the exe in the Emulator. I searched all Emulator files but no trace of that file. Can any one tell me that where this exe will be placed.

I often see people doing SMS from moblie phones to other people,I also often see people playing games on mobile phones,all these games or SMS and many other things which are running inside mobile phones are offcourse softwares which are develped and craeted on simple PCs than how are these softwares tranferred from PC to mobile phones and other devices,I mean to say that are there any special cables through which we can transfer these softwares or any other hardware is used.One thing more which I have to ask is that the do we use normal programming languages such as Java,VC++,VB,C# for developing mobile softwares or any other special programming languages are used,I have heared a lot about J2ME which I think is Java used to develop mobile softwares,am I right?please also tell what are other programming langugages used for developing mobile softwares.

Hi!
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a .NET component as an ordinary COM object? I want to use some functions of the .NET compact framework using VBScript. I know that the CF does not support COM-Interop by default so I played around with CFCOM from Odyssey Software.
As it seems the CFCOM just allows using COM components in .NET but I need just the other direction.
Any suggestions?

Hi all.
I have a CF project running on PPC2003. (using C#, VS.NET 2003)
When i create and showdialog() a child form I can no longer work on it.
Look below :
private void miGetData_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
plsForm = new PleaseWaitForm();
plsForm.ShowDialog();
plsForm.Close();
}
plsForm shows and stays there. It doesnt close.
I tried many other ways but all failed.
This is the minimum code snippet that doesnt work. What am I missing?
Please urgent help!

Screen rotation is only available at the OS level on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (SE). Your Pocket PC 2002 system does not apply.

Hello !!
This is not a programming question...
I have an access database in the MyDocuments folder. When I try to MANUALLY copy the database from my desktop over the database on my pocket I have an error (after saying yes to the overwriting question). It says that another process is using the file and this is not true  . The proof is that when I delete the file and then copy it, that works !!
Anybody does have an idea of what happens here ???

For programming pocketpc(.net compact framework) in C#, do I need to
buy the whole Visual studio .net package or just buy the C#.net package ?
There is a great price difference between the two. Have anyone just buy
C#.net and able to use it to program smart device in .net CF ?

I believe you will have to buy the enterprise architect package (the whole thing).
