So you downloaded the Series 60 platform sdk, but how can the vsiual studio generate code for symbian.
I thought that I would have to buy an IDE like codewarrior for any symbian development.

As of I know, Visual Studio 6.0, is to generate the output code that can be understood by the emulator at your PC, and by the target mobile. It doesnt 'generate' the code other than 'project' information. Its our duty to write the code.

Hi, im working app which lads data from remote database and showing it on ListView control, which I created in dialog resource. The problem is that when I put (m_pListCtrl)->InsertItem(...)) items in this control it will show everything perfect, but when I want to manage OnClickItem message, where I want to use this enstance of CListCtrl it will terminate the program. I'm doing it in Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 3.0. Can somebody help me with this problem...

I am a college student who is taking an independant study class in embedded controls programming. The instructor (I use this term loosely), did not have a text for the course and told me to just look for information on the internet. I bought a DSP DSK for this course to learn how to program embedded controls. Could anyone point me to a book to get, a website or some code to give me examples from which I can build my app. I would prefer the code in C but assembler would work as well. The DSP I have is an older model and there is no code that I can find for it on the internet. IT is the TI TMS320C203 eval board.

Hello guys,
Need to make an application on an international level. Problem is not all devices have the necessary codepages- regional settings available. If I would have a wince.nls file with the Greek regional settings / codepages is it sufficient just copying that file on the device and changing ACP LCID registry settings or is there more to it then just that. (want to make sure I don^t destroy my device  before I start doing that stuff...)
For any help you can give me I am thankfull,

Create a font with the properties you want then call yourlistctrl.SetFont(yourfont).

If you want to print the screen to a printer attached to the device, yes. If you just want to grab the screen's contents, use the Remote Zoomin tool.

I guess that depends on your stl implementation and your definition of properly.

I think different mobile phones have different phone book formats. If I use another device, like a PC, it is possible to use AT commands to read the phone book. But I try to make a java application that can read phone book of the mobile phone itself. What should I do? Thank you.

ON my windows desktop app, I would start model dialogs in a separate thread, as hidden using
WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING
as ShowWindow, does not hide the dialog.
On windows CE WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING does not seem to be supported, so when I start the dialog, it appears right on the screen..
How can I hide it.

I am trying to get some code to build. It supposedly works. I have finally got the compiler working and now I am getting a linking error

LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "JpgLib.lib"
Error executing link.exe.

Where can I find JpgLib.lib file. I looked in the tools folder but it isn't there. Can anyone help me?

Does the VC++.net package on market contains the compact framework
so I don't need to buy the whole VS studio .net for programming CE
device ? The two packages are different a lot in price.

I have an algorithm which fills a BITMAPINFO structure's RGBQUAD with
values. It's supposed to contain a frame of a video. I would now like to
output this to the screen. Currently, I'm only able to display a black
square. Here's what I'm trying to do:

does anyone see the error in this code? i have no prior experience coding in
windows whatsoever, let alone CE... This has been a crash course for me; i

The only thing I can see is that you use an
uninitialized HDC in place of the pointer that
should receive the location of the bitmap bits.
You should check currentFrame against NULL to see
if your DIBSection was created sucessfully.
From MSDN
ppvBits
[in] Pointer to a variable that receives a pointer to the location of the device-independent bitmap’s bit values.
....
Return Values
A handle to the newly created device-independent bitmap indicates
success, and *ppvBits points to the bitmap’s bit values.
NULL indicates failure, and *ppvBits is NULL.
To get extended error information, call GetLastError.
