Is it possible to access linux partitions with windows. So i can make my own linux ext2 explorer for windows (xp). I always use c# for programming.

I believe there was an open source project for some ext2, but I haven't payed any attention to it and when I did see it, it wasn't nearly stable. Samba would be a much better choice.

Hi I have 2 OS on my mashine ( 2 windows 2k)
Is it possible to access the first windows registry when I'm in the second windows. I mean I booted with the second windows and I need to change the registry of the first windows.

Hi ,
I believe you can mount "non active" registry hives in your "active" registry then modify it then export it back to the original location . I have done this while troubleshooting a defunct os .

I know you can do it with XP, I don't have 2k. But leaving this open is a HUGE security hole and I would definitely recommend NOT doing so.
If you still want to do it check if regedit has a Connect Network Registry option under the File menu. If that appears, but does not work your going to have to go through your Local Security Policy, or Domain Security Policy if your on a Domain and allow it

of course it's possible, but u will need a registry file interpreter...
if you have that much time, you can have a look at ReactOS source code!

I have never used 98 extensively, but my guess is its another driver issue in power management so it is crashing as it tries to shut off the computer.

Greets all,
I was just wondering if anyone knows if Win2K supports anti-alias fonts or smooth fonts?
In WinXP it's supported via teh Clear-Type option but I can't seem to find anything similar in Win2K. I'm using an app called IntelliJ which does support smooth fonths in the application but I want to have it enabled in the general Windows GUI like WinXP.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Cleartype is only part of Windows XP editions. And even when it's activated, it's useless without a flat monitor.

flat monitors have 3 times more internal width than non flat monitors, compared with the same resolution (1024 x 768 for instance). Cleartype (and Apple's smooth fonts) take advantage of that.

Subpixel anti-aliasing is supported by GDI+.

In Display Properties, go to the Effects tab and check 'Smooth edges of screen fonts'. This only works at certain font sizes - typically above 12pt and below 6pt for most fonts. It's done by using grey pixels around the edges.
I usually turn this setting on because it looks nicer at larger sizes, IMO.

Hey everyone.
I'm starting to look at Windows 2003 for some things here in the office. One thing I tend to do is rebuild a set of servers often because users have a tendency to trash them (frone end data prcoessing engines). Right now, I just re-ghost the server back to a clean state and all is usually well. Has anyone tried using Ghost on Windows 2003 at all?

I would suggest Goggle as a starting point ... Stuff like security is constantly changing with new Operating systems and such .. You can always do a search on security in Google and probably get a mess of hits .

hi all, not sure if i'm posting this in the right discussion board. but getting every eager to finish off my project. my new you-beaut program is ready to roll except for one thing, the program on the USB drive must autorun once it is connected..
I've been doing a bit of research on making my USB drive to autorun. Based on what i've gathered, "the device must not be marked as a removable media device" - microsoft
would anybody know how to achieve this??
(i've considered writing a hook application to handle the autorun side of things. but i would consider this as the very last option)

Is it possible to install Win98 on a machine with only 8mb ram, because it complains when I try. I've heard that using the /im switch will allow me to do this, but it doesn't appear to work 
Upgrading is not exactly an option at this point...

/nm This switch bypasses the minimum hardware requirement test. This tests for a minimum of a 486/66DX central processing unit (CPU) and 16 megabytes (MB) of memory.
Unless your message was a typo I think it should be /nm
/im Causes setup to ignore the conventional memory check.
