The normal paradigm has been menus on the left, so on the right is weird. Also feels kinda squished.
Maybe there's a rational explanation for the change?
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

Wow! This must have happened during my 2 hour torture session. (phone call with the sr. partner and a client) 
Right now, I'm not liking it. IMHO, navigation links should be on the left. I suppose I can get used to it though.

Yeah, yuck. At least expand the width of the forum to the width of my screen (landscape mode) + accounting for the stuff on the right.

I didn't even notice it had changed until your post. Even then I had to look at it for several minutes before I realized the nav tree had moved to the right side.
In my defense, your phrase "new look" had me expecting a major difference in the whole theme, so I spent a few moments hitting Ctrl-F5 and looking around for a "sneak peek at our new look" link. 
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

It's still narrow and the forums are on the right. But even more importantly, the formatting toolbar is missing, at least when writing a Lounge post.

The RHS was 160px, it's now 300px. The LHS was 170px. It's now 0. There's about 20px os extra space added between the forums and the RHS. That means the net change is about 10px wider forums that had a RH bar (eg Bugs and Suggs) and a 150px reduction in width for forums that didn't have a RH bar (eg the Lounge).
We can tweak.

Okay, I know I'm getting old, but God meant menus to be on the left! If not, He would have inspired Chris, David, Uwe, et al, to create the original with a right side menu panel. It just ain't right!
At the very least, make the silly thing follow me down that page as I scroll so I don't have to scroll all the way up to find it.

I think, put it back to how it was.
It was fine previously and menus on the right are just a little eccentric - I can't think of any other UI where the menu is on the right.
I won't get started on my stop changing things for the sake of change rant... oh there I go...

The menu went from left to right, but that's it.
Don't really like it as I now have to look all the way to the left edge of my screen.
Maybe 10px margin between the screen's edge and text (I checked and it's 9px) 
Besides, by far most menu's I've seen were on the left, that's just where I'd expect it.

And the (expandable) "tree view" (TOC) is usually on the left.
(It's now tucked in between ads, while the left is "empty")

I have someone using my GFX library for a project of theirs.
They need a really tall font to show up large enough on their screen. Raster doesn't seem to be in the equation because I can't find 40px high raster fonts in a format digestible by any major IoT graphics libraries.
So TrueType it is. The trouble is, he doesn't have the RAM on his widget to load a TTF into memory. It must be embedded as a .h header file and streamed from the "program flash" space.
It works, but it's not fast. I need to make it fast, or he's out of luck, and his fairly simple use case blows a sizable hole in my own project.

This is coding. This kind of thing gets the blood flowing for me. I'm behind the 8-ball and only being smarter than the hardware is going to get me out of that predicament.
