My wordle journey today was an unusual one (for me, at least):

The first three tries, the yellow box was the same letter. Having only one letter to go on after three guesses didn't portend well, I was getting nervous. For guess 4 I decided to see what I could mash together out of my one known letter and the remaining un-spent letters, and I got lucky (I think; perhaps there was only one possibility left at that point?).

She has a few good points interspersed in her rant, such as it's nearly impossible for a human to parse a C header file, especially for a large project. Her other complaints aren't with C so much as they are with other languages and the fact that they don't provide the same level of expressive power as C, which means they have to bastardize themselves to call C functions to provide additional features.

Yes, though not huge. I worked on a system whose product lines ran to over 30 million lines of code. Of course, there was a smaller system struggling to get out, but copy-paste was fairly common of out fear that tweaking something to make it reusable would break it.

Hmmm,
I read everything and don't see anything that I disagree with.
Aria is a Rust developer and is essentially saying that C isn't a language from their viewpoint. They are calling it a 'protocol' because Rust needs to 'speak' with operating system components that are written in the C/C++ language.

That's an interesting way of putting it. It's true, yes anything on Windows or Linux will need to interact with thousands of libraries written in C/C++. Everything needs to speak C on an operating system written in C.
The Rust language can mitigate the undefined behavior that plagues the C family but I think we are decades away from that. The Linux kernel maintainers have stated that they might be adopting Rust. There is a similar discussion taking place at Microsoft.

C is on 99% of the device we use. Without it, she couldn't drive to get to work nor use public transportation nor connect from home. She wouldn't have a smartphone, her computer wouldn't boot, her television wouldn't turn on.
Therefore I'm happy when people move away from C and try to use the new shiny Bappyscripts: it gives me job safety and a strong bargaining position. I refused more job offers in the last 2 years than many people receive in their lifetimes (on average I reject 1 offer / week, counting the weeks I receive 4 offers and weeks I don't get bothered). And I'm in a very, very, very small pond.
Also, Amazon is stalking me with 4 e-mails per week in which they also ask me how is it going with my current employer, with whom I work only since January. Apparently they have nobody fit to develop firmware for their autonomous drones and would love me to move 8800 km to work in Austin, TX.

IF they're really that desperate to hire you they need to update their spam/stalker bots to include the phrase "Full Time Remote" to reduce the number of roadblocks in the way.

Texas has no state income tax and affordable housing compared to other tech areas. Sales tax is 8.5% and property tax is about 2% of market valuation. There is simply no way I could have more or less retired 15 years ago had I not moved there from Canada.
Your employer will get you a work visa. You can then apply for permanent residency (a green card), which allows you to apply for citizenship after 5 years. As a perk, try to get your employer to agree to pay all the costs of this.
The only drawback to US citizenship is that you have to file a US tax return for the rest of your life, even if you move away. You won't be double taxed, because of tax treaties, but doing a US tax return as a non-resident is a true buttpain.

I'm aware of that - I follow a lot of American vTubers, mostly centered around Texas, so I knew about it. Also a lot of high tech companies are investing there.
Add to that the sensible gun laws, I'm tempted - though there is a bit too much Bible thumping in legislation. Fact is, I wouldn't move for Amazon because they are horrible employers.

There's lots of tech in Austin, and also in Dallas, so I've no doubt that you could find a good employer.

Well, color me surprised, that a loosely defined systems language has some weird quirks after 50 years in the wild after being deployed to virtually every possible platform, and you have to learn how to live with it if you want your product to interact with host operating system or libraries written in it.
