Surely, somewhere along the line somebody must have noticed that it doesn't make a lot of sense to send ads to people who just bought, say a major appliance for another of the same type of major appliance. It's silly, and at least for me, it puts me off the ads even more**
I don't know, but if I was building some sort of algorithmic ad pushing system, I'd blacklist certain types of items from being readvertised right away, and instead just do "bought-also-bought" queries to get the ads to send.
** although lately i've been getting ads for "gaming machines" that are absolute garbage compared to my work machine and I like that sort of affirmation.

I find this happens with Packt publishing. After I add the daily free book to my library, I start getting ads for it. Why would I buy it if I got it for free?

I mean, I can at least sort of see that. I'd do it to support an author. But if I buy a lawnmower, I probably don't need ads for another one for quite some time.

Perhaps the advertiser knows something about the lawnmower you just bought that you don't. 
But yeah, I agree. Whenever I look at something I might want to buy, for two weeks every ad space on every page I visit is flooded with ads for that same item. Figure it out, guys and gals! If I'd wanted it, I would have purchased it then. Every ad that follows is, by definition, spam.

yea it's becoming increasingly obvious that they track us.... I noticed it too...
the first time it was very obvious was a few months ago, I did some "of my own research" (on the internet)  on the remarkable ePaper notebook. Afterwards I got flooded with ads about remarkable for a while!

That is pretty good confirmation there is no 'intelligence' in marketing, or ad networks. Just like the SuperBowl commercials also confirmed this year.

I love it when someone calls me needing help with something they just bought...google it, get their answer and their ads! I'm not sure if they are dumb, lazy, or possibly smart enough to avoid the ads themselves!

I completely agree. In 2015 I bought a new Mazda 3, after researching it and several different makes and models. After I finalized the purchase for the next 2 years it seemed that every page I landed on had a Mazda 3 ad - but no ads for the other models I looked into just as hard. And now after replacing some kitchen appliances I'm flooded with ads for those same things. Why a purchase would be the trigger I just don't get.

So my 5 year old Dell XPS 13 laptop died over the weekend. It's out of support. My new XPS 15 laptop should be here this week and I'm going to bite the bullet and install Windows 11 on it. I ordered it with a Windows 11 Professional license.

Should work just fine with Windows 10.0.22000 - at least it does on my 1 year old XPS.
I would do a clean install of Windows - doesn't take long on a new machine and then the Dell bloatware is gone.
I am running DELL SupportAssist on mine as I needed some driver updates some time ago and they where faster than Windows getting them out... and I did not have to download and install drivers manually as a peasant  . But I would not install it today unless there is something not fully working or detecting. Windows Updates will even push optional firmware updates to you.
