You need those interim compiles because

you have done interim testing / procedure stubs / dummy objects etc etc, so you know the "bucket load" already works, just the latest bit you've added might not.

You know you're getting old when you realise that that's not the way things are done "these days" and you wonder why the hell not. Sniff | :^)
