everything about the covid "passport" is politics. it has nothing to do with public safety.

It is only about safety; and depending on where you spend your holiday you need more vaccines.
I don't understand what is so "scary" about this one.

..the only reason I can think of to call it "scary", is politics. After all the succesfull vacination programmes, wiping our polio that put an Murican president in a wheelchair; why oppose public health and the limiting of transmisson?

Having a passport is a good thing.
Not needing a passport is a better thing.
On that basis I would have to say that requiring passports is a bad thing, as it makes a 'better thing' worse.
And why would the public not be fooled by renaming Covid Passport to Covid Status Certificates? Ranaming things has always worked in the past. (Edited pre-post to avoid getting too political.)

Because passport is a little to close to ID card, which is what they probably hope it will effectively become.

I could imagine there are legal reasons. The word passport probably does have legal implications.
Over here it won't happen, it would be against the Constitution, just like curfews and lockdowns.

That's what Executive Orders are (mis-)used for. Sure, it's unconstitutional, but by the time it's been challenged in court and struck down, it's usually moot.

We don't have executive orders, those are also against the constitution.
The obvious drawback is that it makes everything pretty slow.

Why not? After all, the price of oil was newgative for a time last year. i.e you had to pay someone to take your oil away.

When your gas tank is the size of an oil tanker...
It is possible for prices to temporarily drop that low. Refineries rely on matched, steady flows of incoming crude oil and outgoing refined products; they have comparatively little storage space on-site. If demand suddenly (and unexpectedly) drops, they are faced with the requirement to store these highly flammable materials on site, and will do almost anything (including selling at negative prices) to get the stuff off the premises. If demand stays low they simply reduce their orders of crude, restoring the balance.
