Why import an "alien" gesture? What is wrong with the bow used by the Japanese, the "namaste", or any number of other greetings used by other human cultures?

Because any of those would trigger complaints from some people about cultural appropriation.

I vote for the single finger salute. Much easier to remember.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

It was a bit of a guess actually as there are rooks in the Tower of London and a keep is a tower, rook is also to deceive. I don't get the all deceive part.

Yep, a Keep can also be known as a castle (as in a chess piece), although technically it's part of a castle. "ALL" the words were the same.
