Many, many kudos to those who publish articles. Foolishly thinking that you could teach an old dog new tricks, I decided to try my hand at an article. I dutifully read MC's excellent how to and then OG's tips on using the wizard. Next decision was deciding to use the wizard. My HTML skills are equal to those of a house plant. So, yesterday, my effort commenced. Managed to create the basics and prepare to enter some code. I was pleased to be able to pick up where I left off this morning. I even remembered my password (pa$$w0rd). I entered the code, copying it back into a new project to make sure that it really worked. Us oldies are careful that way. About an hour or so into the venture, my Internet connection decided to take a coffee break. When I got back on line, all my changes were in the bit bucket. So much for wizards. When is the last time you saw a wizard wizz?
Again, kudos to all you authors. I will respectfully remain a freeloading reader.

Press that save button! (It's at the bottom of the wizard page).
But ... it auto saves draft copies every couple of minutes, I believe - so it should be possible to retrieve at least most of your changes before the internet failed.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Not to worry, I doubt that there is much interest about viewing Pi sensor data with Blazor. Who would have thought you could run Microsoft Dotnet stuff on a Pi?
It was an interesting exercise anyway. Doesn't take much to amuse old folks.

No, but I will redo, using OG's save button that I never noticed. I have it all in an editor, the work was in the formatting.

Save buttons *only* at the bottom of pages is, IMO, a huge UI no-no. [!!!] WordPress does it too IIRC.
Always have one at the top and one at the bottom, or one that slides with the scroll.
Auto-saves are great of course; a UI update alerting users of the save is important.

The Save button doubles up as the Publish button, depending on the status of teh "this article is being worked on" checkbox, and it autosaves every sixty seconds as well - thanks Chris! - so it isn't really needed at all until you want to close the window.
A static "menu bar" type approach would be better and more consistent though, I agree.

Do you know if your internet was dead before you started typing in earnest, or did it fail only after an hour or so? Our system should have been keeping a veritable stream of auto-save copies we should be able to find (and which should have appeared back when you went to edit).
My apologies for the hassle in this.

Thank you. No need to worry, I should have seen the Save Draft button.
I am not sure how long, but I am sure some of the changes were done before crapped out. I check my email from time to time and I have to keep track of some surveillance cameras.
I love updates, after allowing a Template and/or a dotnet sdk update (of course I know better), a new server template is throwing an unhandled exception even before I edit it. Hopefully, I can find it.

Actually, there was a new update to the SDK to match the Template. Downloaded and installed the tarball. Life is good.

I keep thinking I should write an article on something (I am an author in another life), but every time I think of something interesting to write about and check... there it is, someone else has already done it! This goes to show what a good resource CP is - it mostly has stuff I care about.
