Actually, as Dave pulls "boards" out of HAL, the thing that impressed me was that it still kept working. The idea that multiple failures do not cause the entire system to crash became a tenet of how I would like to design software, and have achieved on occasion (usually my own code, you can't begin to even attain that goal walking in to an existing software base.)

It's cool, but I just can't use a keyboard like that. I need a full keyboard, with a numeric keypad because my brain can't deal with that inverted T for cursor/paging/home/end, etc. Never has, never will. Maybe if I were a 3-toed sloth I would feel more comfortable with the finger cramping that results.

Do you also keep hitting the key above the Enter, expecting it to be one of the old large L-shaped keys?

Well, who can complain about going back to the case/keyboard simplicity of the 8 bit home computer world, but I hope they'll be doing a fully size keyboard version soon.

It would be easy to do your own. All you have to do is 3d-print a keyboard dock, and maybe solder in a shorter, more flexible cable on the keyboard itself. You can also use an 8gb pi and a better cooling solution at that point.

So I went back and checked and didn't see Kent's name anywhere in the Daily News email and the author of the article is Dan Goodin. I don't know Kent but I wish I did because I really enjoy the sarcastic art form.
