I was just taking a look at Lubuntu. I'm going to download the ISO and run it from VirtualBox and check it out. Thanks for the mention!

Wow, installed Lubuntu as VirtualBox install and it runs great.
The software installer is very nice and the GUI shell looks really great.
I installed Visual Studio Code and it fired right up. Lubuntu could be a choice for me for my laptop in the future. Very nice. Thanks again.

I wanted to create a new email account for my father because he would like to close the one of my mother (passed away some time ago) who was the one active in the e-communications...
Go to msn... create a hotmail account, fill the things, klick ok... good, I am logged into MSN. Set language to spanish, have a look here and there
I go to outlook web, enter the address, enter the password, everything looks fine... until I get an error:
There has been an error.
You are logged in as "xxxx@hotmail.com", but you have to connect the outlook account of your work... Click [here] to log off and [here] to reload the site and blah blah blah.
Exception - blah.blah.blah.MailBoxNotExistant
Ok... wait a bit (2 hours later) try to log again... the same. 
Ok... maybe I did it wrong and had to create the account in the outlook web instead of in the msn main site... try it again. Address is already used.
Ok... maybe if I log into the msn and then try to get to the email once logged in... same error than 2,5 hours ago 
Check settings (by the way, spanish language set before is gone), need a secondary email to continue. OK. I give mine... get a 4 digit code, introduce it, get another pop up asking me to fill the address of the partner email (again), then ask for a 6 digit code sent there... one after another
Well (slowly losing my patience), try it again.... same error than before.
Mark the account as "to be deleted"... Email in the other account: "Ohhhh, we are so sorry that you go... blah blah blah"
Maybe...? Reactivate again, go to postbox... same error again.
Mark to delete again.
Create a second account from the scratch and this time in the "register" of the email site... same error again.
SERIOUSLY? Are you kidding me?

With the possible exception of you're still using IE (don't know but if anything is going to be dumpsterfire enough to keep supporting it by default), your browser has blocked flash by default for a year or two. Without an explicit click through it won't play in any modern browser.

Adobe has a very bad cycle of pushing updates almost every other day. On top of it, they flag almost every second or third as security must update.
I am happy it is going away. HTML5 looks good enough.

I won't miss Flash as such - but I still have fond memories of an animation style (2D comics-like) that was common many years ago, often to music. If you have seen/heard "Dear p*nis" in SWF format, you sure remember it. Then there was this poor girl falling forever, hitting balls of various sizes as she fell. There were hundreds of such funny, sometimes artistic, animations - sometimes like a cartoon movie, sometimes with interactive elements.
There were some more "serious" interactive animations as well, such as world history visualizations, and of magnitudes, ranging from the known universe down to string theory elements.
For "photographic" video, we can kick out Flash. But for the interactive SWF animations, we don't have very much of better replacements.

OK, so I need a 3.3V supply for a little project, and I'm out of variable voltage regulators. Order half a dozen 3.3 fixed regulators but they'll be a few days.
Grab a couple of AA batteries and that'll do - just a quick meter, and ... 1.8V. Hmm. these are from my "new batteries" pack.
Measure one on its own: slowly climbs to 1.5V
Measure the other: Slowly climbs to 1.4V
Light bulb goes on. Get another meter (my clamp meter - it'll read VDC).
Instant reading: 3.178 V. Perfect.
Open up my main meter, and check the PP3 9V battery (with the other meter) - 8.8V
Ah. Close inspection and the battery has "Use by 2014" printed on it.
Have I got replacement PP3's? Nope. Shed loads of other types though ...
Perhaps I ought to check these things a little more often?

Leaving aside such issues as day/night, weather, etc., The Sun is a mildly variable star (~4% IIRC). This does not make it a good standard.
