I did think that Microsoft open sourcing software had one of two motives (depending on the software):
(1) Ditching something they've lost interesting in whilst being able to claim that it hasn't been ditched.
(2) Marketing for mindshare: Feel good fuzzies for the devs.
This doesn't mean that their commitment to open source isn't real (pro tem): It just means that it's because it leads (indirectly) to an increase in or maintenance of revenue.

The main complaint is that pull requests (PRs) and issues are not being addressed by WPF maintainers. Contributors also say they have no idea if and when issues would be acted on.
Spencer's explanation for the WPF team's performance is that it isn't "sufficiently staffed" and lacks the test infrastructure to respond to community contributions.
"The team is still focused on finishing up .NET 5.0 as per the published roadmap and will share updates on the plan for increasing community engagement on PRs and issues early in the .NET 6.0 release," said Spencer.

Microsoft is convinced that daily commutes have unique benefits, and it wants to revive those benefits by replacing your daily commute with morning and evening tasks. I also need a "non-virtual gin drawer", but I don't see them working on that

Saving commute time and the exertion is one of the positives working from home. Why would I want it now?
If someone really wants to put this, then setup a calendar with meeting (agenda - don't show up, relax, take a break) 
Sounds more to track a commitment of work and doing it. Looks like more of a trust issue/micromanaging the WFH option.

Those ideas could work - the only problem being, from my understanding, they have to keep fans on all the time in the space station otherwise they can get a build-up of CO2 pockets which apparently is not good news - yep I just went full Sheldon there... never go full Sheldon...

The good news - such as it is - is that although the leak has been traced to a Russian module with their life support systems; the Russian life support has been so flakey that the ISS has never had more crew on board than can be carried long term by the much more reliable systems on the US side.
