Not seen that here. Running Mint and moving to LMDE (maybe they are setting up to move away from Ubuntu?). Run some Windows VM's for software maintenance. I think, but can't prove, that those VM's do better running under Linux.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

I'm considering moving to Mint. I picked Ubuntu because of the huge user base (makes it easier to find solutions to problems with it) but in the end it has left me very disappointed.
I'd rather run Win7 as my VM host because it just works.

Is it 18.04? I’m running it on a laptop & desktop with no problems with GRUB.
There was an issue but they recently patched it.

Yes 18.04 - I've been avoiding updates on my machine because I got tired of manually patching after every update.
Probably the fix is in one of those.
The problem is if it doesn't work. I need to go find a USB stick i'm not using and put linux on it in case it hoses my boot record again.
I'll get around to it.

At home, I didn't see Windows for years...
I used to have VMs for SQL and VS, but today I run SQL directly on Linux and use VS Code...
Those few games I have (5-6) are all running on Wine, or native Linux...
So I can't see why add any more layers to that...

Surely it makes best use of their core strengths. MS have never really cracked the nuts and bolts of an OS and there has never been mass acceptance of Linux on the desktop. And before anyone jumps down my throat - I have been on Kubuntu for circa 10 years.
Why not copy the MacOS model? They've done OK.

Because Apple controls both the hardware and the software, and maintains a tight grip on the walled garden.
I'm not sure I want to see that model extended to other systems.

Linux does okay if you ignore the fact that things like updates on an LTS release of Ubuntu hose grub causing the machine to fail to boot.
Or random updates make certain features stop working.
Etc.
Pretty much ignore all the same things I hate about windows, but also it can't run anything I find important like Visual Studio

The only time I had an issue with Ubuntu was the one time I tried to upgrade from one LTS release to the next. Otherwise, I have had zero issues with about 6 machines I've had on Ubuntu since 2007.
Your issues with grub may be due to the developers not correctly dealing with dual boot systems? Don't know.

I don't have any dual boot. It seems to be getting confused by UEFI but I can't tell for sure.

I manage (build run etc.) a website and was looking at the google analytics. They supply all sorts of reports, generally unasked for, and now a report has indeed inflicted a wound.
It was a browser report (user usage).
Android was, no surprise, the single most used. Second, slightly eclipsing Chrome, was Edge !
What kind of users am I attracting? Where have I gone wrong? Should I detect browsers upon connection and instruct them to clean up their act?
Perhaps this is a sign that, indeed, the end is near!

AFAIK, new Edge is built on the same Chromium platform (like Chrome) and uses less of computer's resources. Edge performs better than Chrome. People might have noticed and moving towards it. Win10 latest update is upgrading to Edge by default.

Does 'upgrading' mean changing the default browser? Modifying setting away from competitors is something, in my experience, for which MicroSloth is well know.
(I have no Win10 systems and it's going to stay that way).

Not changing by default. But all browsers, by default keep on asking if they want that browser to be made default.
BTW, I did not meant the default thing - it was more of easy availability and less resource hogging that must be driving it.

It's certainly not unique to Microsoft. Both Apple and Google have been in the news for changing defaults in favor of their own.

Indeed. I had been trying to move away from IE for years, but habits are hard to change. These days more and more sites simply misbehave when using IE, so I'm finding I really don't have a choice.
All browsers have their own idiosyncrasies (some mild, some annoying), but so far I find the Chromium-based Edge (or Chredge as some call it) provides the path of least resistance for me.

It's too late for that. You must delete your web site, erase any backups using DoD 5220.22-M, destroy the server farm that once contained your site, plow it into the ground, and sow the site with salt. Afterwards, you must wear sackcloth and ashes for the rest of your natural life.

Because you mentioned it:
Safari was fifth of the five that were displayed, significantly behind Firefox which was significantly behind the nearly tied Edge and Chrome. It was a bar chart - no decent numbers to share.
My (expected) users tend to be older then your standard phone addicts - but no shortage of phone addicts across most of the age groups when I see a subset of them live (on occasion). It took a while for me to train them into not text me because I don't read them or send them.
