So, I've lived in the Hollywood area for the past 5 years... long story short I did more acting in Louisiana than here. Not because I can't but because I saw the truth about Hollywood and I'm no longer enamored by it... basically it's all fake and an illusion. All of it. Fake.

I'm sorry about that. That sort of disillusionment is rough at any time in your life.

I'm on a hiatus at the moment, to which the bathroom scale can testify. I sprained my right ankle for the third time a couple of years ago, and it never wanted to heal properly. I've been off for about 4 months now, and it seems quite a bit better. I'm going to start walking my dogs(*), and work up from there.
(*) A male and a female retired greyhound, both former racers. Funny thing is, they're not good running partners. Their idea of a run is 60 seconds at 35 mph, and then a 2-3 hour nap.

I totally understand that. That used to be me... except theater was never my thing. Our life is tech, so video is the way to go. Hollywood changed my view on all of it though.

Although I know where your coming from (a trite expression if ever there was one), basically, sticking their head in a hole doesn't protect an Ostrich from much of anything . . . well, except for knowing just how close the end is to them.

I didn't say you should be blind to the world.
I repeat, I try to get informed and up-to-date but another thing is to let what I hear get my sleep away. That's what I meant with send it to hell.
I try to think on my own and not just follow the herd.
I try to do what I can to support what I consider good things.
I try to be a good example for my kids and hope that they will have some good influence on other kids at the same time that I hope too they won't get too much bad influence from other kids.
But I am realistic and I know that I can't do much about those political topics, where instead of the "let's try to find the best solution for all" it goes more about "mine is bigger than yours". It doesn't matter who / which land / which party or whatsoever is on each side of the table.
Live your life the better you can and harm as less as possible.

TBH that's pretty much the whole problem in the UK right now. The press very polarised and mostly spouting the political opinion of whoever owns it, or a least as much of the owner's opinion as they know they can get away with. We may rank OK in terms of "press freedom", but that's not the same thing as press balance.
You can sort today's papers fairly accurately with the following test:
Pro Brexit: Main headlines about the cap of the number of people who can meet indoors
Anti-Brexit: Main headline is about the UK's threat to break the law.
More likely to report Soap-Opera Story lines as real news than actual real news: Anything with a pun in the headline. The "i" might be an outlier, I don't think I've ever read it. The Independent (it's sister paper) seems to be the least nuts
Bonkers: Main headline is about Jammie Dodgers.
If you want something more considered you might want to try "Private Eye"- it's 50% satirical (but those parts are normally very funny) and only comes out once a fortnight.

My impression is that there are louder competing political voices(more like screaming really) at the moment to be able to hear anything about Brexit.
It's strange that something as important as Brexit really has taken a backseat to a number of other issues in the mainstream media at the moment - not going to mention what those issues are as they are deeply political and divisive.

There is some reporting on the BBC but I am in the process of giving up on reading or listening to the BBC.
I think the general gist is that there may be a no-deal Brexit, there's some also sort of a spat going on regarding sprats.

You can be sure the negotiators, being paid as executive bureaucrats are always paid, are making sure they've plenty of time to take their ill-gotten gains to the bank.
The long it runs the longer they're paid - along with various travel perks.
The only downside might be to have to be in the same room as one another - and that might all be a trumped up fantasy for the media to help justify their sloth.
