How does newbies come to know about CodeProject? When they are stuck or need help, seems they post it at SO or CP.
Possibly Word-of-mouth OR Google OR ???. If Google what keywords?

When you're in Visual Studio and press Ctrl+C you are automatically taken to CP's Q&A.
It's a new feature for students and the mentally challenged!
I'm not sure how many cookies it makes to be happy, but so far it's not 27.

Hmm, I didn't mention Q&A. However, I'm guessing you had a coding issue/question that you googled, and probably found a link to an article or forum post, just like me and a lot of others I'd imagine. Though I could be completely wrong .

But yes, I do refer to this site often. And they google it. Since Undu down, SO is the only real alternative. SO ansers but lacks articles. (And I loved Undu).
Here, you download and try. SO doesn't have that; thus, as far as I can see, nothing that is better than CodeProject. Nothing else I could recommend. Google it, if you don't believe me.

Do a google on any .NET related project, and only two sites in the top five. Top five for DuckDuckGo even, and at least top ten in Bing. Most people who have a question use a search engine; most of my coworkers already knew the site and had downloaded stuff before.
The site is named on my resume; if you never heard of it then I don't even want an invitation. If you over five years in the field and ignorant of CodeProject, then you're not a developer.

I am one of the few here who are an exception to the norm. You can see this by my user number. I was a member at a site that preceded this one. Chris sent out an e-mail and auto-registered several hundred (thousand?) people when this site was started and I was on the list. From what I have seen, Ravi B. is the only other person who is still active from that list. His user number is one less than mine.

I came over at the same time. I wasn't active on the forum at all for the first few years and lost access to my original account. In fact I think this was my third account on the site.

I used a different name at the old site and wrote a few articles for it under that one. When I got the e-mail about this site I signed up with this one and have been fortunate enough to not need another one.

Were you a part of the crew that came from codeguru when Zafir Anjum sold off the domain name and site?
Btw I met with 4 or 5 codeproject.com members in real life at the Microsoft MVP summit. I think it was the 2014 or 2015 summit on the Microsoft Redmond campus. I met Nish Nishant, Peter O'Hanlon, Sacha Barber and a few others. Some of them were drinking the free alcohol so I doubt they even remember.

Yes, I was. I bet it was fun to meet those people.
I used to be in a mod team for a game and was able to meet up with a few of the team at an E3 (in LA) several years ago. It was a great time. A guy from Nvidia gave me a video card and that was pretty cool.

Yeah, I went to E3 in 2013 as a member of the XBox One team. I've worn many hats at Microsoft, one of which is contributing code to the XBox One operating system. After that I was moved back into the Windows operating systems group.

A fellow refugee from Microsoft. =) I wrote the bit of Windows where you right click on your PC icon and click "Manage..." - utterly boring, but I think the code is probably still in use.
I was also on the Visual Studio Whidbey team, but that seems like forever ago.

Hmmm,
You were in the old shell group? That sounds like something that would be assigned to the shell team. If so then I personally know at least two people that would have worked with you. The old shell team was disbanded sometime around Q1 2015 and two of them joined our team.

Actually, I was on several teams at once (WMI, windows shell and vstudio) - it was part of a microsoft "restructure" (IIRC) and straddling teams was part of it, but I didn't work with other people on the shell code. I just checked my code in and out and otherwise kept to myself. I had my own office, so I wasn't stuck in one of the big dev farms
Adding, while I was there I was in building 8.
