I have not used a thumbdrive in years.

As someone else suggested, I should use git (or something similar), but the reason I was using a thumb drive (actually a USB nVME drive) for source code is because:
0) I'm running Windows in a VM
1) I needed to be able to work on the code on both a laptop and my desktop
2) I might go weeks without working on one machine or the other
A thumb drive just makes sense (source control makes even more sense - grin). I have no idea what happened because I'm diligent about properly ejecting the usb drive before unplugging it from a given machine. It's been fine for almost two years (maybe I was just pushing my luck though).
As I stated earlier, it looks like I have a reason to use my Synchronicity article.

I agree with MadMyche... have you tried disc recovery?
I don't now if you remember two years ago, a relative of mine had a problem with an indian scam center and they deleted the HDD content. I tried a pretty old disc recovery app, and worked like charm. I could recover over 95% of the data. It needed a couple of days (the HDD was 1,5 TB) and then I had to merge 3 different versions of the folders but it was worth the effort.

Try Recuva or something similar to get the deleted file back.

Do you have the compiled exe or dll? You could use ILSpy to decompile it.

If the file ever was on the thumbdrive (you do not mention if it was never transfered or simply deleted), you should be able to recover it - or at least a part of it, by using a recovery tool.
/edit: just saw this has been proposed - I can warmly recommend Recuva - I used it in the past with success for pictures.

As I said in other message, when that happened to my relative I had to merge 3 different versions of some folders.
The recovery tool found 2 or 3 different versions of some files. Deleted by the !"$§$§%!", deleted by my relative, overwritten with another version...
they named by the old principle filetem~1.xxx, filetem~2.xxx and so on...
I don't know how much will it take to rewrite it but I would give a shot to the recovery tools.

Hi All, Opinion requested. I have a large C# Windows application That has a complex math component (in C#).
I also have a large Android application, written in JAVA. I believe Xamarin may be the correct route, but I am open to suggestions.
I would like to somehow share the math component between the two apps. I am open to transcribing the component into a new language and have both applications access/share the code.
