It looks like it's designed to collect all the security flaws of all the IoT and other devices in the "ambient" into one convenient package for hackers.
That might sound like a bad idea, but it does allow google to steal a lot of personal data while everyone is distracted by scare stories about the hackers, so it has a silver lining.
