The only problem is normal™ people don't understand them. I said to my friend, who's asking me if I'm going to a pub, but was willing to stay there just for one beer: "I'll go, if one or more people that will stay for longer (basically hours) will go as well, otherwise I won't because it's a waste of time to travel an hour for one beer and then travel back home". Nobody else matching that condition replied in our email pool of friends, yet my friend was still waiting in the pub wondering where I am. Because according to him I said I'll go.

Probably more of an OCD thing than a super power at this point.
Years of "what if user inputs invalid characters" "what if there is no input" "what if input times out" "what if input parses incorrectly" carries over into "what if the car won't start" "what if the car starts but has a flat tire" "what if the spare tire is flat" etc. etc.
Or perhaps this super power is what made me a good developer rather than the other way around...

I can make the "World Go Away" in an instant when I sit down to work. This includes ignoring my Wife (of 45 years), my insane dog, bills, problems, worries, TV commercials, political liberals who don't think anyone has the right to "free speech" except themselves, bad weather, etc., etc.

After a hard day at the code face, even the most spectacularly dull things become interesting in a way that they just wouldn't do at other times.
I'm not sure whether this is due to:
a) cognitive changes induced by being in the code zone
b) the simple fact that the thing in question isn't written in SQL
c) insanity.
98.4% of statistics are made up on the spot.

You need a lot of power sometimes to accept a code construct as "that won't work".
Get over it, delete it, start fresh.
So many people stick to old, grown code and just can't imagine to rewrite it. Often a rewrite takes less time than to try to fix the mess that's going on.

I'm able to spot false assumptions from almost 3 km (line of sight). This allows me to imbue invalid conclusions with a slightly glowing, off-putting reddish color. Spontaneously, my powers cause promising ways forward to glimmer at intensities and frequencies that are in proportion to the paths degree of propitiousness.

For me, one of the coolest aspects is creating my own tools. Imagine, you're a carpenter and need a drill. Instead of buying one, you build one. That's how it feels to be a programer.

Almost everything I've done is at least one layer of abstraction removed from practical reality. There are a few notable exceptions though, one in particular comes to mind.
