That's a difficult one.

These two together:
Quote:
Where it's ok to ask questions that haven't been thoroughly researched?
Where you don't get downvoted because a question has been asked before (because every question has)?
If it's been asked before, why not thoroughly research it first? Laugh |

We do understand that it's difficult to articulate (or at least most of us do) but when people post without even trying to to research the basics (with Google or - heaven forbid! - their course materials) it does get rather wearing, no matter where it's posted! Laugh |

In essence it really depends on what you are asking (and to a lesser extent on who answers), but how you ask is also very important. A one line question "how do I do X?" or a copy of your homework assignment isn't going to cut the mustard anywhere; it needs to be a "proper question" - and very often the act of asking the "proper question" gives the solution because it forces you to think hard about exactly what you are asking.

There's an article here on "How to ask a question" but my brain is failing to come up with the name or even the author today... Sigh | :sigh:
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...
