Definitely early start, bugger all else to do in the mornings, but evenings there's lots of stuff to do.
I used to be 6-6:30 wake up, that's changed to 5-6 for some annoying reason.
But what's worse is that I've never been able to sleep in at the weekends.

It's probably build into my internal clock at birth. I didn't see artificial lights until age 12 so rise and fall based on the Sun cycle. My brain just don't want to work before 9 am. I'm more productive at evening hours.

Me too. While there are some people who awaken at 6:30 a.m. no matter what time they went to bed, I tend to be alert and productive until 2:00 a.m. no matter what time I awoke the previous day.

Night Owl: Rarely.. but totally depends on how late in the plan you are.

I love taking naps and nothings better than sleeping 3 or 4 hours after work. In college, I'd work all day, sleep for 3 hours, study and stuff until 2 or 3 and sleep a couple more hours and do it again.
I found breaking my day in half that I was quite strong in the evenings. I hate having to think hard for 12 to 14 hours straight; so dividing the day in half works for me.

Wouldn't we all prefer to start late and leave early? Provided it didn't negatively impact our employment or paychecks.
That said, I work best any time I can remove distractions regardless the time of day. Unfortunately I work with a lot of people who only do the 8-4 schedule and have had to adapt.

Honestly, no.
I am up as soon as it starts getting bright outside. Currently, during summer this is around 4a.m.
At 4.30 to 4.45 I am often already working and at 8, when other people appear with sleep in their eyes in the office I am ready for lunch...
At latest at 11 I would be ready to "call it a day" and leave... but at that time the first meetings of the day are just starting...

If it's interesting, challenging work, I start early and work late. If it's tedious dull work, well, one of two things happen. If it's short term tedious, I'll often engage the will forces to just get it done, which, when done, is a really nice feeling. If it's long-term tedious, I get up early and stay up late looking for other work.

I have always been a night owl. I was the last one coming to work (yes, even after the CEO). But I was the last (by long delta) going home too. Once activated, my concentration could go until really late in the night before being affected.
My standard work day then... 9:30 or 10:00 to 20:30 or later
Since I became father... I am forcing myself to wake up by sunrise so I can be back home in early afternoon. I prefer to spend my play my time taking care or playing with my kid, than in the office.
My standard work day now... 06:30 to 15:15 or 15:30
I do stay longer if needed, but not just "per se"

Used to be, I was a night owl: mornings I was not good at - I slept through the October Hurricane in the UK, 1987 and it dropped trees, stole a whole indoor tennis court. But nights? I could go on until the sun came up. I was, I suspect, a vampire.
But now ... the sun is up, so am I. This annoys Herself, who likes a good lie in but who doesn't get one because the cat knows who feeds him and pesters her until she joins me.
And my brain works at about-the-same efficiency from about an hour after I am up, to about an hour after I go back to bed.
So ... "no preference"?
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

My brain works best in the morning... although this has improved over the years to work equally good in the morning and throughout the day.
I go to bed late though, and I wake up late (to 'normal' standards). I work standard 8 to 9 hours everyday. I've recently moved closer to work (5 min drive) to accommodate my lifestyle. I know guys at my work that drives two to three hours every day, I was one of these sods. Not even talking about how much it cost them on fuel and car maintenance.

These long drivers need some fuel efficient car. Or at best a Tesla with some auto-pilot.

Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.
