If you were on the internet in a certain era, you remember McAfee. It was the defensive line between you and the rest of the internet, reminding you with incessant popups that you were not hacked, not quite yet, but only if you renewed your subscription right away. Because that's a name people know and trust

Did it ever go away? It still seems to come pre-installed on most Windows consumer devices - and you still have to download the "removal tool" to properly uninstall it after you've used the uninstaller.

That's why I prefer to download the drivers of the computer and wipe it, reinstalling from the beginning. 90% of the pre installed things in EOM-Computers is crap.
