I'm usually writing applications that have to use (very) limited resources, so I'm thinking about how I could do %SOMETHING% to optimize it better, even in my dreams (not joking), and that makes me have a headache almost all the time.

My worst aliment from programming or working on a computer is my right wrist. I worked at a place from 2001 to 2004 that never gave me a mousepad nor did I ever use one. After a couple of years my wrist started hurting really bad and would pop out of socket. I complained about it and then then next day I was given a jelly mouse pad.
Since then, I always use one. My wrist still gets sore, but now I sometimes switch to left handed if it gets sore.

Shocked multiples times from exposed power leads on some our boards (bad, bad, design), cut myself on our in-shop-made aluminum computer cases, almost had an oscilloscope fall on an arm.
When you work with hardware as well as software, you also have hardware-induced injuries.

I used to be a very skinny dude, playing football all the time. Now that I am a programmer, I have to sit down all the day long. I now, am fat (relative to what I was back then in 2011) and I have a family-pack on my belly.
It surely is a side-effect, now I am looking forward to get married.

My eyes started to give my problems about 4 years ago. Now I can't read/code without eyeglasses. Who's to say it's due to staring at a computer screen for the last 17 years or whether it's due to age or even genetics? (both my brothers are also now wearing readers)

Farsightedness is an eventual effect of old-age as the lens loses elasticity.
I went from nearsighted but able to wear my glasses for anything to either having to remove them for close work or get bifocals.
