That's what you get with "dynamic" languages. So, I guess you'd not like Python, JavaScript, etc.. either. BTW, you'd get a version of this behavior when using reflection in C# and Java and other reflective languages.

Yup. If the member you're looking up doesn't exist you get null. If you try to use it, then NullReferenceException. You also get this sort of behavior when using C#'s dynamic.
I agree Ruby's === is assinine. Logical NOT? Why not just != like every other language. WTF?

!= is pretty well limited to C-style languages.
VB has <>, as does SQL and Pascal.
Haskell uses /= (which kind of matches the mathematical operator, indeed Haskell supports ≠ directly).
Smalltalk uses ~=.
There's quite a wide variety. Get out more

I absolutely agree that regex's are typically not good for reading. Great in uses such as search/replace, but for not so hot for use in code.
One of the things I liked about Microsoft's (discontinued) MGrammar project was that they just used the same syntax for lexical and syntactical constructs, so matching an identifier looked like:
Upper = 'A'..'Z'
Lower = 'a'..'z'
Letter = Upper | Lower
Digit = '0'..'9'
IdFirst = Letter | '_'
IdRest = IdFirst | Digit
Identifier = IdFirst IdRest*
While a bit more verbose, it rendered the result much more readable.

Windows 10 has been with us for a little over eight months now, which means there are only about four months remaining to get a free upgrade from an older Windows operating system. As the clock counts down, Microsoft has begun to auto-schedule PCs to upgrade to Windows 10 with or without consent from end users. Just gonna go home and check my settings, brb.

My wife's laptop was taken over by the Win10 virus. She was unable to move the mouse due to GetWinX eating all of the processor.
Me: "Okay, let's update." <click>
GetWinX : blurgh! <fail>
I tried 3 or 4 different ways of upgrading. Was unable to download updates or even use the PC.
Finally, I downloaded an ISO for win10 to a USB drive and wiped the entire machine / installed.
Oh, it's very easy for the non-technical user, I am sure.

It is irritating, how Microsoft treats us...but it is relatively easy to stop the scheduled upgrade...

What's really a pain in the ass is that even though you hide the various Win10 updater updates in WinUpdate, they come back each time new updates are available.
