Scrum while great in theory is in practice a really flawed process of creating software. Scrum is iterative waterfall. Scrum is process hell. "My worries seem so very small with my waterfall."

Yes, hence the term "rapid development".  A rapid is a series of small waterfalls, duh. It's why white water rafting is so much more popular than going over waterfalls in barrels.

Agree. Scrum with all its processes is the most anti-agile methodology, standups are commonly misused for micromanagement, a sprint, as the author wisely said, is just mini Waterfall, having product owners as well as Scrum masters often is just like having 2 project managers. Planning poker, Fibonacci numbers make it look closer to things like astrology then actual science. The worst thing about it is that developers are actually cheering for it, because it's new(ish) and hip and all the rage. And it's definitely better than Waterfall, even though most don't even know what that actually is, they just get told it's bad constantly so it must be true.

Hi,
I get a good salary because I cope with citizen developer requests for business.
In practice, I just deal with theses situations:
- the conditions description is non Boolean.
- the conditions are self contradictory.
- Sometimes the request (as described) involve some magic powers (fortunately I am black belt Jedi).
I guess I still have many years of good job before they come with a simplified language that address these problems.

Faster, smarter programming, with fewer bugs. Those are the promises coming from the creators of the latest round of languages to capture the attention of programmers. "Future events such as these will affect you in the future."
Ignoring that two of them are hardware platforms, and one is just a CSS-preprocessor.

Terrible, terrible, terrible, ... article. If those languages define the future of coding, we are doomed. Nevertheless, I agree: "Its a real highlight that Java 8 got lambda expressions." Forget about Rust, Julia, F#!

I have dabbled with it, I even have some D files dated 2003-11-07. In the end, I chose to stick with C#; it does what I need.
