Apple's head of design says in an interview that there are emotional reasons why the iPhone needs regular recharging. "You can never be too rich or too thin."
He's too rich, your phone is too thin, apparently.

Sure, I could fix them for you, but it would take all the adventure out of using my software. What did you say? It doesn't crash all that often? Just wait until the next update! I thought the same thing. I prefer it to work forever with no battery at all.
Not sure why Apple can't do that. I guess they just have limited thinking over there since Jobs passed.

I just want a thicker phone; other than a taller lens for the camera in one corner, a bigger battery is just the thing that would make the most sense to fill the volume. I'm entirely serious about the first point too; half the reason I went with a (fake??) leather case that doubled the thickness of my phone was to make it easier to hold. Enough extra battery capacity that I could leave my charger home on the weekend, or go without having to find an outlet mid afternoon on the rare days I use my phone extra heavily would be much more useful than a slab of non-edible cow parts.

I have a Mophie Juice Pack Plus case for my iPhone. Nearly doubles the thickness and fully doubles the battery life. With my normal usage I can get 3+ days between charges.

OK...
Does your smartphone have a battery the size and weight of a car battery and give you year long battery life? No.
Does your smartphone have a battery the size and weight of a dime and give you battery life measured in minutes instead of hours or days? No.
So the reality is somewhere in between. Like every single manufacturer in the world, Apple has to decide what balance of size, weight, battery life, etc... they wish to offer. They made their choices and in an interview he tried to explain their reasons.
BTW - When has Google, Samsung, Microsoft, HP or Dell ever even tried to explain the reasons for any of their hardware decisions? Would you call them idiots if they tried?

Ummm... show me that quote or anything like it. I read the CNet article and the linked Financial Times interview and there is nothing even close.
From the Financial Times article: Talking of performance, when the issue of the frequent need to recharge the iPhone is raised, he answers that it’s because it’s so light and thin that we use it so much and therefore deplete the battery. With a bigger battery it would be heavier, more cumbersome, less “compelling”.

"Bigger battery" equates to "more power". So saying we "wouldn't like a bigger battery" is the same as saying we "wouldn't like more power (i.e., longer lasting power)". Ergo, he's an idiot.

What really gets me about people who can't FizzBuzz is not that they haven't heard of the modulus operator, but that they didn't bother to Google 'programming interview questions' before the freaking interview!
Seriously! FizzBuzz is the quintessential programming interviewing question, if you just google 'programming interview questions' you will find it in two minutes, and can memorise it in a further 3. That's 5 minutes they clearly couldn't be bothered to spend preparing for an interview, and that is bloody terrifying!

In Visual Studio 2015 CTP 6 we are introducing the "Create Unit Tests" feature that provides the ability to create unit test method stubs. Hopefully they'll write them too. That would save so much effort and time.
