I am wondering if anyone in here can help me understand this simple concept.
if ddl="abc" and fileuplaod1.HasFile Then
Else if ddl="abc" and FileUpload1.HasFile=false Then
Alert asking for fileupload
If Bool=True then
DataBind to Gridview
So in here my second condition executes though one of them is false. How can I stop that?
Your help is much appreciated.
I have a linkbutton in Gridview which downloads uploaded file. When I click on download linkbutton, it only downloads the file when all the textboxes above grid are not empty.
after giving values to txt1, txt2 and file uploaded I click on button and Gridview is populated with the values entered which has a Download link button that downloads the attached file. Now when I click on Download if txt1 and txt2 are empty it shows Required field validator asking me to fill those fields. Only after filling it Downloads the file.
Do you know why is this weird thing happening?
Your help is much appreciated.
i dont use the Vs validation controls, they can be annoying especially in this case where it want to force you to enter something even if you want to do something entirely separate to the problem controls. The way i solve this, is that i ajaxify(Update panels and add Triggers) the control, if you have two controls that are causing a Problem why dont you handle validation manually ?
Spoted in Daniweb-- Sorry to rant. I hate websites. They are just wierd. They don't behave like normal code.
So i got this module "Internet Programming" where we should learn ASP.NET and some C#. But what we really learn is some drag and drop functionalities of Visual Studio 2013.
As we don't learn any hard code I do post this thinking its a simple question.
All i need is to insert (if possible) reservations for restaurant tables (a given number of requested seats will require a number of tables to be reserved).
1- Add restaurant Tables, the sum of seats of all tables its the total seats at the restaurant. DONE
2- Make reservation:
2.1- Get client info: Name, Contact, number of seats to be reserved and date (day, month, year, hour) DONE
2.2- Check availability. If number of available seats for that time is lower than the number of seats requested show massage to user.
At 2.2 i don't know how to see if there are seats available to make the reservation.
In some other programming language i would search the seats already reserved for that time and subtract that number to the total seats of the restaurant. Then just by compering the result with the seats requested for the new reservation i could tell if its possible to reserve or not... easy...
But not so easy in the way I'm dealing with ASP.NET on visual studio and using built-in DB manager wit IIS express Server.
Some code would be nice.
As I'm doing all using the graphic interface instead of coding I'm having an hard time to get along with C#...
I've created some tables i got the CRUD (create, read, update and delete records on tables). But again all with basic stuff no real coding skills needed.
Now if i want to access/manipulate data from some table how do i do it? IS there something like there is JDBC - ODBC in java ??
The only other way that I'm aware of to execute a query in ASP.NET is using the data source controls[^]. If you've built the CRUD operations using drag-and-drop in Visual Studio, that's almost certainly what you're using.
The data source controls will cover most basic scenarios, but once you run into their limitations, you'll need to start using ADO.NET or an ORM for data access.
