I'm talking about the downvotes on the answers - not the question. You're right, the question is pants, but the answers appear to be an honest and decent attempt to provide meaningful information.

I've seen quite a few poor questions downvoted to be fair, but others where the OP just didn't phrase themselves that well - in many cases I was in the process of responding when the question got downvoted - I was starting to get paranoid that I was hitting something

There does seem to be a little bit of one-up-man-ship going on. I do find it ironic that some of the responders slag off the OPs but I can't understand half of what the responders are saying! Sometimes this forum feels like an old-boys-club "aren't we clever and they are stupid"
I actually joined CP to learn ... and to share my years of experience (ok I'm a newbie in c#) ... saw the point of it (CP) ... so so so disappointed that members have let you down really.
However I do laugh my socks off daily at one particular "respected" (read mega "points" for pointless posts) poster who is rude beyond belief

Hey I couldn't agree more, there are a few members who are just down voting a lot of questions/Answers just for the sake of it. If you don't think it's a good question or a good answer why is there such a need to down vote?? Just don't reply and move on. At the end of the day we are all here to learn off one another not ridicule those who try to help or need to be helped.

Ahhh, I know exactly who you're talking about. He's the same reason I don't answer many questions in Q and A anymore - I couldn't take the "hey look at my post instead" attitude. Good for you wanting to share. We really can't ask for more from anyone. Thanks for taking the time to help.

Wow! I was just composing my reply to your message like this: "The answer is accepted, so maybe you can just edit out the link", when I took a look at the OP's profile[^]. In his profile, he has a link to that same website as in the answer! Obviously this was a setup question.
