Flash is a complete framework where you can develop web apps, desktop apps, mobile apps for most of the platforms, promos etc. with the rich UI. HTML 5 by any how can't match the rich UI and functionality of Flash platform. We can use HTML 5 for most of the applications but when you want a better than the best output on web you will need Flash platform.

I've never had to code for it and don't really know what all the whinging is about, so couldn't honestly say yes.

...Because I didn't like any of the options... I think Flash is going to die not because of Apple, because of emerging standards like HTML5.

It’s like COBOL, and Fortran, and whatever had enough traction to put down roots. Then someone had to come along and maintain it, so the new generation learns it, perhaps as a hardship, perhaps as job security. Indeed how many times have we said that BASIC must die? Yet here I am today building a !#@ing project with it.
