Ugh... xsd.exe... double ugh.

As an example, here is a simple XML file:

<head>
<items>
<item Name="Item1" />
<item Name="Item2" />
<item Name="Item3" />
</items>
</head>

xsd gave me a clean enough schema:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<xs:schema id="head" xmlns="" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata">
<xs:element name="head" msdata:IsDataSet="true" msdata:UseCurrentLocale="true">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
<xs:element name="items">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="item" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string" />
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:choice>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>

Then it gave me 50k of C# code full of extra crap to read that tiny thing lol.
