Hi thanks for your reply.
Actually i can display the path of the file in my page. since im using a repeater over here i wanna show the path of the file as a hyper link and when user clicks on the path the file should get downloaded.. im struggling at this point.. Any help is appreciated..

Hello,
i have multiple files on server. I want to Copy all files on Client Machine at once time.
Now i am just using this code
Response.Write("<script type=\"text/javascript\">window.open('download.aspx?f=" + path + "');</script>");
Its Save the file one by one on client machine and ask every time for save.
But i want to save all files at once save click, ya copy all files in Client Machine at once

if you go to BCC news website or any other website you'll see the usrl is referring to a file like this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11661496

not to a database like this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news.aspx?id=9999999

so what's the best way to save news website? how do they do it? i don't think it's just physical files because maintaining it would be very very difficult..

can anyone explain to me please....

The above url that you are talking about, It is not the linked to the direct page. They must have used some routing mechanism or URL rewriting kind of thing. So user clicks the news link it is redirected to the appropriate page wit the help of mechanism implemented.

I didn't get your question.
Do you want save the links of the news. So for a user point of view, both the links are same, whether the routed url or querystring one.

I have a timer which displays the current time within an asp:UpdatePanel This part is working fine..

I have another asp:UpdatePanel on the same page with two TextBoxs for login purpose.

The problem when the timer is running and I try to put the cursor in one of the two boxes in the UpdatePagel of the loging area it just stays there for seconds and then lose the focus! why is that?

Hello

what does this error mean?

"500-inernal server error .
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."

This project has been written with visual studio .net 2010 and the database is ms sql server 2008.

Every few times I am faced with this error.

Can anyone help me to solve this error ?

The 500 message you posted is pretty much the server equivalent of "Exception", in that it means "something" has gone wrong the processing the request and the error is on the server side (as opposed to a bad call from the client). It could be one of 1000s of things, can you post a stack trace or log message as the error you supplied doesn't narrow things down very much.

Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^]

See, this error is returned from the web server. The Web server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request by the client

This error itself doesn't describe about the error. You need to see the IIS logs to find more details about the error.

So see the logs which might help you to find the exact issue.

Check out this tutorial. It might be of help to you.

In this case the poster uses a local MS Access database. So in your case, you could have your .mdb in your server and then use Server.MapPath to get the full physical path. But be careful to secure your database file (w/ a password or some other mechanism), because in such an implementation, its accessibility will be wide open. If there is an option to use MS SQL, you could always choose that.

Then why haven't you asked this in the Javascript forum instead of here?

I could be wrong, and can't find a reference now, but I seem to remember reading that Microsoft had removed the ability to do this, on the grounds that users had a right to know the address of whatever page they were on (and maybe re-directed to unwittingly) - call it a security measure.

Hi, i have a requirement like as below.

I need to get the current url of the browser in the code.Based on that url the logic will depends. The problem is we are doing URL rewriting in web.config.

Original URL - http://mysite.com/test/mypage.aspx

URLRewrite - http://mysite.com/site/champ

In my code if i use Request.URL i am getting URLRewrite one. But how can i get the original url in mycode ?

Please suggest me
