We are a small team that has been organizing the European Software Conference (MicroISV.eu) since 2001 with success for all MicroISVs. We kept our ticket price low. if you're willing to spend your time watching and reading a lot you're well informed anyway without all the marketing voodoo stuff at conferences.
I prefer a technical video showing off the "product" itself rather than a powerpoint slide orgy, it's free, it's on demand and if I don't get something I can always rewind the tape as many times I have to .)
But that's just me...

... but not by choice. My company has not agreed to send me to one since 1999 and I can't afford to pay for one on what they pay me. But, hey, it's a job ...

It's one of the "disadvantages" of working for a small company: No Conferences... However, the advantages of working for a small company, to me, outweigh the negatives.

we can handle all types of development controls, doing documentatuion, can deploy our projects...and many more

I'll gladly pay for my own conferences if I get to work for a small company. I'll probably be making more money anyway.

Small companies are good places to learn. But the process orientation and agile methodology will be less. Thats the only drawback.
One more thing one cannot tell like we cant leanr more things in MNC'c . Definitely we can learn more things in MNC than small companies. I am telling this because you can see a lot technology usage in MNC's.

Small companies are definitely a good place to learn. We advance in strides in terms of learning, but since you speed to much, you really cannot afford to concentrate on single thing for a long time. This might become a disadvantage if you are planning to be "Master of One"... and not "Jack of All".
The extra cheese slice (a bit higher salary) is to compensate from the "other" work you are asked to handle instead of having a dedicated resource. Again, you are jack of all...but...
Finally, depends on what do you want in life...

Video conference is an interesting idea. I have had several invitations to video conferences, both free and for a fee. If I tried to watch at work I would not make it through the conference as the interruptions would be many.
Hey, but if it is in town and free I sometimes can go to them with manager permission.

Yeap, it's like, for every $ spend on your training you've got to give back $$$.
I suspect that these conferences don't have to do with increasing the work a programmer does, which is what i suppose companies expect from their employees once they return from such paid events.
It would be hilarious if it was true !!!

Don't waste your time or your employers money. They are without exception marketing exercises. Genuine information and learning can be obtained for more quickly online and leave you free time to socialize with people you would actually want to socialize with doing something fun.

Do a search on the net for "Code Camp" to find one in your area. It consists of presentations by programmers for programmers with lots of source code; no marketing by big companies.
Just because the code works, it doesn't mean that it is good code.
