Thanks Dave,

I figured that but was hopeful. I tried to use FindWindow api to find the title of the window i'm looking for but my pc is vista (work environment is split between vista and xp) and it returns a value regardless if it finds a window with that title or not.

Is there something else more accurate I can use?

Hi All,

I've been searching for this topic for days, am I wrong or aint there alot of articles about this?

All I see and popsup everywhere is a few things "Google Earth API", "API Key", "KML" , "GE Plugin"

Can someone please help me understand this:
All I want is a VB.NET Webpage where I can enter a Adress and it navigates to it.Thats all.

What the hell is the api? Is it a DLL?
Is tha api key the same thing as a api.
I have the plugin installed.
What is KML in english please.
How do I use/call these in my code :"Google Earth API", "API Key", "KML" , "GE Plugin"

Please can anyone please please give me a usefull link or any sound advice.

Google documentation is usually reasonably good.

This might be a good starting point, it shows you how to get a map displayed in your webpage.

The link doesn't go as far as to show you how to get to a particular address but there should be more info on the site.

Done a bit more hunting and there is an example on google that does exactly what you need (I think). Have a look at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/examples/geocoding-simple.html[^] and view the source.

i have doubt on crystal report..

i need to convert number to indian rupees in text format...

for ex:

Number is 10000
convert to ten thousand rupees only

Do you want the text string "ten thousand rupees only"?
I am pretty sure that [expergated] can not do this. You will need to write a conversion function to do so. There are a lot of examples if you just try google.

If you are fdeeding the data out of VB program then convert it before going to cackreports.

Moves data From Program Files in VISTA

Hello All,
Actually i am installing my application and data in program files. It was working properly.
but some time data moves from Program Files to %Appdata%/Local/VirtualStore. and then it changes software settings and it's funcanality.

Please give the help for this issue. What is the problem behind it.and how to resolve it.

Rewrite your code so you don't write data to anywhere in the Program Files folder. Since the users don't have write access to that folder, the files are automatically getting redirected to a "safe" location that the users do have Write permissions to.

You might want to do some research on the user data storage locations to pick an appropriate place to put your apps data. There are multiple locations you can use, depending on your apps requirements. You'll probably want to start with Googling for "Windows Vista Development Guide".

I already try for it. I moves data from Program Files to Program Data(All Users Application Data).
But it also moves sometime in Virtual Store.

My data is sharable for all accounts of users.

If you can think then I Can.

That's because most companies make All Users ReadOnly to the workstation users.

Than you're going to have to describe this requirement in your applications documentation. Vista has a \Users\Public\Public Documents folder you can put data into. Or, get with your Admins and find out what an appropriate folder would be in your environment.

Yes and no, that dpeneds on the network policies and whether people has write permissions to that folder.

If you want to search for a String within an array of Strings you can use this function.

Private Function indexInArray(ByVal theArray As String(), ByVal value As String) As Integer
    For i As Integer = 0 To theArray.Length - 1
        If theArray(i) = value Then Return i
    Next
    Return -1
End Function

To use this function you have to pass the array you want the string to be searched in and the string you want to search (value).
This function will return -1 if it doesn't find the string you want to search within the array. If it does find it it returns the index. NOTE: This only works for one-dimensional arrays.

You can use this sub to test it.

Private Sub testIt()
    Dim myStrings(1) As String
    myStrings(0) = "hello"
    myStrings(1) = "world"
    If indexInArray(myStrings, "hello") <> -1 Then
        MessageBox.Show("The string in contained within the array")
    End If
End Sub

If theArray(i) = value Then Return i //doesn't return i after finding index value same with value,it return -1 for all values

How exactly are you using the function?
It should be :

indexInArray(the array you are working with, "value to search")

Hi,

there is an Array.Find(Of T) method in recent .NET versions. You can give it a predicate that explains what exactly is a find. I haven't used it yet.
