This kind of thing is much easier with server side programming. But otherwise, I would use javascript to store the info as a cookie (NOTE: NOT secure). Otherwise, you could still use a query string on the link (i.e. "yourpage.html?somekey=somevalue") and use javascript to break apart the url and get the filename on the player page.

THe above is used to validate a form and then submit the filled out form to a table in mysql. The form is not validated before the contents is submitted to the table.
How can I amend the above or my code so that the form is validated first to check for errors then submitted?

Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read this.
What I am in need of is the code to:
Get thumbnail without uploading the picture. I already have browse, pick image, click upload, after upload I create thumbnail and other multi-size images, it all works perfect, and Of course people hate having to upload 1 pick at a time.
Therefore I would like to have the client (browse, pic image, click add to upload list) (system copies thumbnail and file location from the file they picked) then choose another file and another etc…for up to 50 files. I will display the thumbnails in a datalist as they pick them. Then when done choosing files they want to upload. They just click upload.
So with this in mind all it is, is multi-file upload with thumbnail view prior to uploading the files. Just like they do on Snapfish. I know with Snapfish they have the client download the multi-file tool. I do not with to have people do that. Any pointers will be grateful.

swf upload allows you to upload multiple files but it's based on flash/javascript. Your preview would be the "pick files to upload box"
Otherwise I'd google "multiple file upload [your programming language]"
Thumbnail generation can be performed server side using any one of the gazillion scripts found on google.

Thank you for the pointer, very nice, I checked it out a little and see its something the client has to have on there side. Which i do not go along with.
I already have an upload and thumbnail process that works perfect. The client picks there file, clicks upload and once the upload is done, I process it and make 3 files. (Thumbnail, a 400x400 and a 700x700) picture. A print process for them so they can print the picture on there printer.
What I am just looking for is to make it so I just take the THUMBNAIL from the client .jpg or /gif when they pick file to upload without Uploading the file. They will have to click browse and pick each file one at a time which will be added to a sql DB with the thumbnail being saved on the HD so I can DL them one at a time and show them the thumbnail prior to the DL and while the DL is taking place.
Using the SQL DB makes it so if they loose connection. The next time they login, they are prompted to upload the rest of the pictures and all they have to do it click finish upload.
I will not put anything on the client side that they have to DL and use. With all of today’s virus and malware junk around, I do not have the client DL anything at all, this protects them 100%.
For anyone that does respond with more info. Please do not recommend any software package to use.

So you want to get the file onto your server without putting it on your server....? 
swf upload does require flash. Flash is pretty safe - I'll vouch for it. I know a few people who have it installed.....
If you dont want the users to download anything, I suggest you let them use their operating systems ability to preview images.

Yes that is what i am looking to do, Thumbnail only until they click (Done - Upload files) upload all the files. I will ckeck it out again and actually DL it and test.

Hi all,
I have a ASP.NET web application. trying to display a prompt dialog when the web form is first loaded, actually wanting the 2 disable the web form until password has been entered.
function InputPrompt()
{
var passwrd = prompt("Please enter the password");
}
and calling the function like this
getting this error...
"Compiler Error Message: BC30456: 'InputPrompt' is not a member of 'ASP.frmaddcust_aspx'."
Please assist.

Obviously, you will get that error as onload method on form, the compiler is looking for method either somewhere in code behind

I'm reading up on the ajax documentaiton and had a question on partial page updates...
1) So do partial page updates only target controls that reside within an Update Panel?
2) Even if a partial page update occurs, isn't a postback really truely occurring behind the scenes? Your browser doesn't appear to do a full postback and blink, but I'm guessing it is still doing a postback.

That's the point and beauty of Ajax is that it is behind the scenes. To view the 'response' from the server when an Ajax is being used use a Firefox add-on called Firebug. Example Screenshot.[^]

Ajax will target whichever html tag you want it to. I would recommmend looking at javascripts innerhtml before trying to dive into ajax.

Hello,
can anyone enlighten me why Internet Explorer 8 doesn't display the main page of my website http://keepass.info/[^] correctly?
On that page there's a table with two cells, one containing left-aligned text (news items), the other has fixed size and contains a right-aligned image. Although the width of the right cell is specified explicitly, IE8 assigns an extremly large size to it. The width is specified using a HTML attribute, but I've also tried a CSS style, which didn't change anything.
Mozilla Firefox and Opera display the page perfectly. It also validates 100% as XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Tables should only be used for displaying data and not for position elements.
Use div's and CSS instead as it is how it's ment to be done.

i know a framework. There are many. personally I prefer jquery. You'll have to do the putting it together yourself though.
