When I pasted the XML in the post linked below into the FF edit window it didn't get encoded. Posting it into IE encoded it successfully.

Hi,
When I set a Date Filter for one of the forum, it is being set for all other forums.
It will be good if we can set different date filters for each of the forums as some forums have messages posted once in a week and some forums get flooded with the questions daily.

We could do it, but I worry that the amount of time spent to do it, and the load it would put on the servers, and the number of people actually using this feature wouldn't balance.

Hi All/Chis,
When attempting to change the site password with 'Name or Alias' = 'Article email' = 'Logon email' (i.e., all are the same), the password is rejected with the message:
The email you supplied has already been registered. Please choose another, or try retrieving your password if that is your member email With a small change (modifying Article email), the change is puported to be successful. However, attempting to logon after the change requires the use of the old password rather than the new password. So it appears the password change does not work as advertised.
Perhaps I am pressing [ENTER] with the wrong finger?

Hi Chris,
A little more information on the issue. I believe the problems I encountered were due to a stale cookie after I performed a logout. I was able to get a password change to take after clearing the cache.
I also changed the password on an ancient account that I created a few years ago when I could not log in using my standard account. Perhaps deleting cookies on logout would mitigate the problem?
Deleting a cookie on logout also helps ensure that private data, when no longer needed, is not lying around. If there is data available, it risks being stolen. If there is no data, there is no risk.

We do delete cookies on signout (that's how we make you signout!) but occasionally cookies are sticky. I've seen this mostly in Firefox - sometimes it just doesn't want to let go.

Ummm, at least in FF 3.0.9. They all are obfuscated, which is what I thought was the behavior when I originally posted.

I got the alt text, by selecting the smiles in my previous post and clicking the quote selected text button.

The issue is that different browers return different things for images, and there's not a lot for me to grab onto. Firefox returns the ALT text (which is what you're seeing), so I could possibly decorate that with a keyword so when "GRIN [CP smiley]" (for example) is returned I can map that back to  , but IE doesn't return anything for images so I'm outta luck.

Chris,
I get email notifications whenever someone posts a reply. The email always comes from [forums at codeproject dot com].
This past weekend, one on Saturday and anther one on Sunday, I received post reply emails, but instead of the usual forum email address, the emails came from the users email address. In both cases the post was deleted by the time I checked. When I clicked on the link they were both gone.
Is this typical? I have not encountered this before.

Oh didn't you notice, analogous to square roots, they recently introduced rectangular, circular, and diamond roots to determine the size of the corresponding shapes when given the area. Luc Pattyn[^]

Are you sure they weren't direct emails using the 'Email' link? These send emails to you and do not appear in the forums themselves

Sorry for the inconvenience. You are right, they were direct emails. Better read the whole email next time.
