I am doing some research on the new ASP ListView control. All of the examples I see have AccessDataSource controls for doing data binding. I want to be able to dynamically bind a generic list to the ListView control but can't find any examples. Can anyone provide an example?

I am developing a web application where user will upload a word document. I will be parsing the word document and putting different parts into different places to show in html. Sometime there are some picture, charts etc. If i use windows forms application i can use CopyAsPicture() method of Range of Word and save it from clipboard to some file. But when i call this function from the webpage there is nothing put on the clipboard. Please help!!!Accessing

Not a good idea to think in terms of desktop development when doing server development. One needs to understand the environment in server software development. Or not, I suppose it's up to you.

Man I'm getting objects using com interop and that is why i think if i can save uploaded file to some location on disk, create Word objects, I should be able to access the clipboard, because all this is happening on server side and not on client machine.

hey manas..
i dint get u..
i mean to say that in a textbox the value inputed has to be compared with that from database table.and i want that the search must be independent of capitalization of the textbox value.
example.
if table has "Sunday" then the textbox value "SuNdAy" must also match wid it..
pl explian it in detail,m a bit new to it..

as far as i know, SQL Server is not case sensitive for text comparision, so just compare like
select * from t where xyz = 'abc'
or
select * from t where xyz = 'ABC'
both are same.
'Sunday' and 'SUNDAY' are same in SQL Server.
or if you want to make sure than you can use either UPPER() or LOWER()
i.e. select * from t where upper(xyz) = 'ABC'
Also Manas is trying to tell you that if you want to do partial search then use 'Like' with '%'
ex.
select * from t where Day like 'S%'
will return both 'Saturday' and 'Sunday'
while select * from t where Day like 'Su%';
will return only 'Sunday'
in short % is like * in DOS.

Hi,
I'm populating a treeview in a form at page load when data inserted from another form and submitted. But Treeview data is not refreshed.
I input data into a form, click submit, user is redirected to a new page with a Treeview, this treeview data is not updated. I tried debugging, query is fetching correct data, but once treeview is bound and when it appears on the page, it shows previous data, nodes are not getting refreshed. I have called the DataBind() after setting DataSource of the TreeView.
I tried clearing the Nodes before setting DataSource property, but it was of no use!
Could someone tell me whats going wrong here?

Hi guys!
I have just created a simple user control which displays a directory listing of a specified root location on the server.
I then discovered that the Directory.GetDirectories and Directory.GetFiles methods ignore the access permissions of the logged in user. So, even though the user may not be able to view a particular resource, it is still being shown within the directory listing.
What I want to do is somehow filter out directories and files which the user does not have access to.
I am controlling directory/file access via 'Web.config' files. And this works a treat. I just cannot find an option to verify whether a user has access to a particular directory or not. Below is some pseudo-code which describes what I am trying to achieve, but I do not know what goes in the two if statements.
string[] dirs = Directory.GetDirectories(rootPath);
string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(rootPath);
foreach (string dirPath in dirs)
{
if (Page.User is allowed to access dirPath)
{
}
}
foreach (string filePath in files)
{
if (Page.User is allowed to access filePath)
{
}
}
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

By Web Princliples, a web user will never have access to any directory on Web Server.
What you can do here is the impersonation.

Hi,
Let's assume that the series of web.config files allows the user 'Bob' to access anything and everything. If 'Bob' tries to access the URL "webserver.com/users/bob/picture.jpg", he can...if anyone else tries to access this file a not authorized page appears to the user. This part works fantastic.
The Directory.GetDirectories method returns an array of paths which are relative to the server itself (i.e. "c:\wherever\users\bob\"). I have just found out that I could use the UrlAuthorizationModule. This would mean doing something like the following:
string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(path);
string rootPath = Page.ResolveClientUrl("~/filesroot");
foreach(string file in files)
{
string tempPath = file.Replace(rootPath, "~/filesroot/");
if (UrlAuthorizationModule.CheckUrlAccessForPrincipal(tempPath, Page.User, "GET"))

}I have two questions:
1) Is there a better way of doing this, or a way which uses mapped paths instead of virtual paths? I tried using the FileAuthorizationModule but got completely lost as this takes an IntPtr token instead of an IPrinciple.
2) What do you mean by impersonation?

Hi,
In my application I m using excel file to enter the values in database.
It is working fine but it is giving a strange error.
If in a column let A
If we have value "DMIX00008" and "65400004"
Then it is reading values like "65400004" but values like "DMIX00008" are coming blank.
I think it is reading that column datatype as integer or numeric.
But i want that column to display values as they are entered.
How to rectify this problem?

Hi Hemant,
I think that you are filling the datatable directly from the excel. and your first value in excel is numeric. that's why this problem is occured.
Try this one.
first you create columns of datatable, which you want to fill. make sure that column's datatype is string. and then try to fill it.
