I am doing an intranet application,which I want to configure into IIS and run using localhost...
Configured the website in IIS but it is throwing an error as follows :
"Failed to access IIS metabase."

So you want to allow users to access your website through your computer?
I'm not sure if you can do this but dont quote be on it!
Best to do a search on the web, I found this article for apaache but not really suitable for you

I need other users to access the website that is running on my machine. They can use my machine ip address and access the application. For that i think i need to configure my machine into an ASP .NET Server.

just share you application path with IP , that's all

Try These...
1. Reset your IIS and recheck it again.
2. if you have install IIS after .NET Framework, the you have to reinstall
by just run aspnet_regiis command.
Then try to run it again.

iis->default website--Right Click -->Web Site Identification-->IP Address - >Advanced -->
add your ip address on your network .usually 192.168.0.1:80
and also
open tcp port 80 in windows firewall

I developed originally with VS 2003. There I was happy using DataSet with DataAdapters, and the old DataGrid control. For "detail view" of selected item in DataGrid, I rolled my own viewer.
Now I am revisiting and attempting to get "up-to-date" with the new TableAdapters, GridView & DetailsView.
I had assumed that DetailsView would be tied to GridView and could show just the selected item's details. I see it actually displays (one of) many items, which I don't really want/need, but never mind.
Now, my adapters fill a dataset, and that is what I have bound the GridView to (via its DataSource). I do *not* want it to issue a SQL command directly. Still less do I want the DetailsView to issue its own SQL command, I want it to work off the filled DataSet. That rules out the examples way, which allows binding to a *parameter* taken from the selected item in the GridView and passing that as an argument to a SQL command.
My problems/questions/work-arounds are as follows:
1. I can bind a DetailsView DataSource to same DataSet/DataTable, but can find *no* means of setting which item/row is selected in the DetailsView. All its "selected" stuff seems to be read-only (whereas I can select in a GridView). Am I missing something?
2. Although I wouldn't mind DetailsView navigation between rows, I only *need* it to show the selected row. If I have to go down this route:
2a. I could create a copied table with just one row in it, but that seems ugly, and it only contains a *copy* of the row anyway.
2b. I can use a DataView to select one row and bind the DetailsView to that. But I don't see the DataView being used much any more.
2c. I could create a "Business Object" to do this, and look into its "SelectCommand" (or whatever).
My searches have revealed nothing. Don't understand why this isn't a common requirement.
Please let me know if I have missed something for #1, or which way from #2 I should be pursuing?

I've got a data input page for an advert, the user will enter all the fields, then get another user to approve the input once checked. It will then appear as a new record on screen 2.
Before approval though the user can hit preview, this will show them the finished advert but without approving it. If there is an error they can amend and preview again.
So...
Input Screen 1
Preview Screen 2
Final Approval Screen 3
How do I transfer the data from Screen 1 to Screen 2, use a Querystring? A Request["Data"] object? What's the best way, I don't need to store it nor return to it later, just copy the data from screen 1 to a new web browser screen2 (which will be read-only)

yes, as .netman suggest, if you dont need to store data then just use quesry string .

If you have few input fields and the data entered in it is not sensitive, then query string would be good choice. If not, you can consider cross page post back method.
Alternatively create a class with getters and setters (something like a java bean), assign all values and keep this classes instance in session which can be accessed from screen 2.

I have a link button on my page.
Click on the linkbutton will add a new text box to the page.
My problem is how can i set the focus to the textbox, which is added after clicking on linkbutton.

How to make visible - true or false and Enable - true or false for the controls inside the footer template of a datalist dynamically.
I have two buttons for paging in the footer one for Previous and other for Next . If the last page is true in datalist paging i should change the button to visible false.
Can i have a piece of code.
