Have you looked on Microsoft's site? I recall they tell you the differences between the two.

Hi, I found that the price for testing 70-290 at Prometric is 50$. But when I ask the testing center in my country they cost me 80$. They told that the 30$ will pay for aircondition and electricity charge.
I want to know whether the testing center at the other country will over charge the client like my country too? Is it a high rate or not for this over charge?
Thank in advance

Not that I know of. Given the rate global fuel costs are going up, I am not really surprised if there is a surcharge for A/C and electricity. $30 does sound a bit on the extreme side.

First of all buy Microsoft self paced kit for the exam. This kit is available on any good book shop. study the whole book. Take braindumps for the exam and solve each and every question. after doing all this your ready for the exam.

I was interested in getting an MCSD certification however I am not sure where to look up information regarding it. I checked microsoft but it requires silverlight now which I have been shying away from. After much searching I have found some sights with good information but little info on actual schools/programs offering classes. I am most interesting in taking an online course; aware the tests must be taken at a certified center. I have searched for rating systems and reviews of available programs but with little luck. I don't want to pay sign up and pay for a class only to discover the programs is of poor quality(little information, poorly designed, absent teacher, etc.) Any positive advice or info would be appreciated.

Any particular reason why?

no significant reason. I went to the microsoft site seeking information only to get a message that silverlight was required. I have had a few significant problems with microsoft 'upgrades and improvements' so I looked elsewhere. I didn't expect the school ratings I was looking for to be on the microsoft web page anyhow. In addition I found a non silverlight version or at least part of it on another page.

IMHO, Silverlight has caused a positive improvement in the MS Site Layout.
I suggest you get it

I am surprised by his attitude. I access MSDN from a PC which does not have administrative rights and quarantined. But given the privileges, one soul does not want the (silver) light. Is this what they call 'One man's meat is another's poison?'

Well, Microsoft DOES have a negative reputation for most....
A few questions....
Do you use Vista?
Do you leave Windows Update On?
Are you using IE?
Are you using Outlook?

I have just completed my MBA (Systems) in Distance Learning mode from Alagappa University (http://www.alagappauniversity.ac.in/[^])
I am just thinking of doing a Ph. D. topic now. A few of my friends were advising that a Ph. D. would then make oneself turn into academic career again rather than in software.
But I feel that we gain a good knowledge of deeper research if we choose up a good topic. At least from India, I feel that the life in a software field packed with envy and jeolousy does not give a complete peace of mind. But at the same time, as time progresses, switching to an academic line, it gives a greater mental satisfaction of lighting more candles and illuminating the ambience.
Let me know about your views too.
Tip: I originally posted in the Lounge since I believed that should be a more generic forum but subsequently chose to move it here since this is more befitting on the topic. Furthermore, there is a little 'against in academic' topic running in Lounge currently.

You can have an academic career in Software.
You can always hide the fact you have a Ph.D. if you think it is ultimately detrimental.

How do you mean? My project is cooler than your project kind of thing?

Eventually, after a period of five years, I am just planning to enter into academic career in full. At least in India, the speed/pace of coding and development which gallops during the starting period then enters a snail's pace.

The environment in India wouldn't be that straight-forward as in your region. I might be low-voted for being an extra-frank though. But the amount of politics that prevails saddens an ethical heart.
