Hi,
I need to unzip and zip files using WinRAR in my C# application.
The unzip part is complete and 100% working but I'm not getting the zip function to work.
Below you see my zip function:
Process Unzip = new Process();
Unzip.StartInfo.Arguments = "x -p" + txtPassword.Text + " \"" + ZipFile + "\" \"" + outputDirectory + "\\temp\"";
Unzip.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false;
Unzip.StartInfo.FileName = rarName;
Unzip.StartInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden;
Unzip.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = rarDirectory;
Unzip.Start();
Unzip.WaitForExit();
Unzip.Close();
Unzip.Dispose();
To zip the files that are in the outputDirectory (C:\outputDirectory\temp) I have the same as the zip function.
Only the Atguments are different:
Zip.StartInfo.Arguments = "a \"" + Path.GetFileName(zipName) + "\" \"" + ZipFile + "\" \"" + newDir + "\"";
For some reason he is unzipping the files but is not creating a zip file.
Can anyone help me with this?

Well something is wrong with the parameters I give....but I don't know what.
When I start debugging this line:
Zip.StartInfo.Arguments = "a \"" + Path.GetFileName(zipName) + "\" \"" + ZipFile + "\" \"" + newDir + "\"";
looks like:
a "DC2tempDir.zip" "C:\OutputDirectory\temp\P1010827.JPG" "C:\OutputDirectory\01\01.A\"
What I'm trying to do is creating a new zip file in "C:\OutputDirectory\01\01.A\" with the name "DC2tempDir.zip".
The content of the zip file must be the .jpg file in the temp dir.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong here? (I'm using WinRAR btw.)

You only need two Parameters:
1. ZipFileName including destination directory
2. The file(s) you wish to zip including source directory.

Hi All, I have created one windows installer for my window Application using Asp.Net 2005 setup project.This installer adds an shortcut in the program menu. Now I want to add one more option in my Program Menu that will allow the user to uninstall the Window application.PLease tell me how to modify my installer so that it will add uninstallation option in the program menu.
Please help me in that.

To uninstall an application installed using Windows Installer, you invoke msiexec.exe with the /x option and the product code of the product you want to uninstall.
You can use the [SystemFolder] property to locate msiexec.exe, and your product's product code is available as the [ProductCode] property.
I'm not entirely sure if VS2005 will allow you to create shortcuts that point to files that you didn't install.

Hi guys
We have this exe file on the internet for the people to download, the problem is when somebody downloads the exe and tries to install it, the program asks them to download dot net 3.5 first. And the user is asked if he wants to download dotnet3.5 and when you click yes, you get a messagebox saying "downloading otnetfx.exe", followed by another messagebox saying download failed.
The only thing I have figured out is that it should be downloading "dotnetfx.exe" and not "otnetfx.exe". So there is a spelling mistake by a coder somewhere.
I have done a quicksearch of "otnetfx.exe" in the current project, but nothing came out of it.
So guys can anyone tell me where to find this code and how to fix it

Correct. You will need to change/correct the setup application to download the correct file.

If you aren't the original creator of the setup program that is being downloaded you will need to contact that company/person and have them fix it.

I work for the company, the original coder has left the company and this is my first week in a coding environment. The boss does not know any coding, all he wants is the problem to be fixed.

You need to use the same tool the original coder used to create the setup application (which could be Visual Studio, InstallShield, Wise, WIX, InnoSetup, or any other "installation creation" application). Open the installer project file, make the correction and then rebuild the setup application.

He has used Visual Studio 2005. So where will I find the installer project.

Well, hopefully it has been checked in to whatever source control system you are using and is a project in the Visual Studio solution. Look for a project with a .vdproj extension.

No Scott, There is no .vdproj extensioned file. We have used VisualC# express 2005 to make the project. If that helps.

It sounds like we are talking about different projects. What you need to find is the application and project file that was used to create the setup application, not the program that is being installed. This is typically a "Visual Studio Deployment Project", an InstallShield .ism project, etc. That is what needs to be changed.
The only other possibility is that you have a completely custom written setup application. In that case, you would have a regular Visual Studio project file and would then need to change the source code for that application.

I think this .nsi file has got something to do with the installation it has these scripts which I have never seen in mylife.

Yes, a .nsi is the script file created by the NullSoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page[^]). You will need to download and install NSIS, make the necessary changes and then rebuild the installer.
