Hi, I am trying to automate reading information from a website. I can read the first page, but the site navigation to the second page is not a link, it is a __DoPostBack() call and I don't understand what needs to be sent to the server to get the second page.
The initial page I (sucessfully) read is http://www.arm.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=280&SearchString=%20&theme=textonly[^], but then I cant work out how to emulate the action of clicking on the '2' button to get to the second page. I guess the problem is to do with __viewstate ect. I have tried sending back the viewstate http://www.arm.co.uk/default.aspx?page=280&theme=textonly&__EVENTTARGET=Template%3A_ctl12%3A_ctl2%3AJobResultsDataGrid%3A_ctl1%3A_ctl2&__EVENTARGUMENT=&__VIEWSTATE=[^] + the recieved __VIEWSTATE value, but this did not work and the OpenURL() call fails.
Any ideas?

Maybe an expert is just someone who makes mistakes that are more difficult to spot and fix?

I am coding with Visual Studio 6 on Windows XP and Windows 2K. I edited the default MFC Icon (using the built in designer) and it shows when the exe is on the desktop or the taskbar. However when I view the exe in a folder or if I drag it to the quickstart menu, all I see is the standard MFC icon. The icon for the ico file (in Res) also appears as MFC. What am I not doing?? Please Help!.

Actually there are two icons, you missed one, if I recall well it is the IDI_SMALL one.

Visual Studio set up the defaults. and generated the following code. I thought the SetIcon(m_hIcon, FALSE) statement dealt with the small icon.
I just started a new MFC project called Test, edited the icon and see the same behaviour.

An ICO file contains any number of icon images, intended to show the same picture at different
sizes; the system picks the one with the most appropriate size, which may be different in
the task bar, in Windows Explorer (with different view options), etc.
With Visual Studio 6 you can look at, and edit, each of the icon images inside one ICO file.
Not sure if/how you can with more recent Studio versions tho.

Your code cannot change the icon associtaed with you executable (i.e. the one shown by Explorer), you should change the icon using the resource editor.

Since Luc didn't know "how to" in more recent versions of MS, you can find the different size icons by right-clicking while the icon is displayed. Don't right-click on the icon itself, right-click on the "empty" space around the image. At the bottom of the pop-up menu is a set of 3 meu item - New Image Type, Current Icon Image Types, and Delete Image Type.

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition, it seems to open icons only by launching MS Paint.
So I do not see where I should right-click "while the icon is displayed" at all.
Can you enlighten me?
I have a similar question for hex viewing a file.
And for editing HTML files (with source view and preview).
All these are features that are present in VS6, but seem missing in the 2005 Express Edition,
or have I overlooked something?

I didn't know you got that much of a resource editor with 2005 Express

I've got the Professional Edition. My guess is these are "features" that are missing from the Express Edition. Just enough in there to make EE mostly useful but not enough so that developers can skip sending M$ money for the real version

As I'm a fellow fossil using VS6, I may be able to help.
Bring up the icon in the resource editor. You'll see a small picture of it, and a zoomed in one just to the right for editing.
As has been said, an ICO file has several different sizes in it. If you look above the smaller pic, you'll see a dropdown labelled "Device", and probably "32x32x256" in it. Just click the drop down to see the other icons in the icon file.

Hi,
I have developed one activeX control for displaying tiff images in VC6.
Its working fine in IE, but not displaying in Mozilla Firefox and Nescape.
Can you plz give some suggessions how to get rid of this problem

From ancient memory, I thought activeX was internet explorer specific. In which case you're stuffed.
This may not be the best forum to help though, but I'm sure there's a web one where you can ask about script, ajax, jif and all that stuff.

Hi,
I'm an active VB.NET, PHP and Java developer. I had some experiences with C, but not much. The project I'm working on is TCP IP support for a hand terminal. The terminal has a Intel PX processor and a WIN CE OS.
The general idea is to implement TCP IP capability over GPRS, so the only thing needed is when the terminal connects to the internet using GPRS I start listening to a specific port. When the data comes I start receiving the data and saving it on the terminal. When the data is completely received i close the socket and port.
I have developed a complete working solution in VB, but my boss says it cannot be that "high up" meaning the .NET framework... So I must develop it on low-level using C.
I have downloaded uIP(TCP IP capability, designed to be used on embedded devices that have low memory) and a ported version for MS Windows by Higeron. But I get a massive amounts of errors, 600+. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 to create the program.
(I first want to create it on windows xp to see if it works) then final version on WIN CE (it mustn't use any windows libraries it must be pure C) The app is quite simple and uIP that does 95% of the work, but the problem is I can't get uIP to work. (I have created a new project with VS2005 and put all the header files and all the source files in the same root folder. Try to compile it and got 600+ errors.
Any ideas, suggestions, solutions, anything.
Please help.
