Get all the list of file names from the folder and your filename has the details such as year and month. Use the substring method, manipulate and bind it to the dropDownList (Month and year).

If a user click on a control then a window will open using javascript.If the same user click on the same control then the window will not open .How is it possible,like in gmail chatting.In gmail when an online user is clicked thn he can chat with the user.again he tried to click the same user then it willnot open the window.how is it possible.please help.Thanks

Window.open() takes a optional argument that specifies the windowName. Give a windowName when you do a window.open(). Two Windows cannot be opened with the same name.
window.open('PagePath','WindowName','WindowAttributes');

I gave it but if there is 2 or more users then if we call the window.open function with name specifying ,the other users also cant open the window.How we overcome that query.I want that.

Is the username specification is possible in javascript.If possible how it will apply.We call the username by authentication purpose.This window is used for chatting purpose.That meanss in gmail like.if the user is online thn he can chat with other online users,if the user click on a online user once thn the event of onclick is disabled in gmail .We want like that.

Basically you need to give distinct names to each window being opened. So in chat window if you click on member1 then name it member1 and if you click on member2 name it member2 and so on. You can simply pass the selected member name to the function to open a window.

Opening the window is the problem or writting the Code using Javascript is the problem??? Doesn't you chat application display's the list of User's logged on?

Hi! i have say 1.aspx, 2.aspx, 3.aspx & finally final.aspx. in 1.aspx i collect first name & last name; in second page 2.aspx i collects mobile & email; & in 3.aspx i collect address. finally i want to collect all the information in final.aspx want to save in database. the work flow for this is: 1.aspx -> 2.aspx -> 3.aspx -> finall.aspx. can any one help me in this regards?

1 - Create a class which contains all these fields required. Assign value to the class fields and store class object in session which can be access in all these three pages. Remove the session after insertion to the database in final page.
2 - Create a temporary table and store the details over there. After insertion remove these values.
3 - If your information is not sensitive, pass it through querystring.

Then you could put all the controls required in one single page and hide/show it using javascript. Since all the controls are in single page, you will be able to access all of them and update accordingly.

 This is ridiculous, You don't want to use all the 3 methods which is specified in the first post, you don't want to use all controls in single page and separate using JS. So how you are planning to do ? And I am not getting why you don't want to use all these.

The most optimized solution to this requirement is property.
Create a class with all these properties Name,Address,email etc.. and assign value to these properties and either pass it to another page or put it in session...
You can directly also put all these values in session...

Use Wizard control. you have no need to use multiple page.

1. You can use Server.Transfer Method and Cross Page Post Feature which will allow you a normal post back but to a different page in the application. In the New page you access the values of the Previous Page using the PreviousPage property.

Hi,
I am new in .net. I am making an application using datagrid which is showing details about employees. So I want to make my data grid searchable. So i am using a textbox where user can enter some data into it and the matching result with all the columns will be displayed in the datagrid. If anyone knows how to do it or anyone hav a code for it. Please reply me

You can try the following methods
1- When user enters search criteria, goto database and fetch the records and rebind the DataGrid.
2- When datagrid is initially binded, keep datasource in a session or viewstate, and do search on that datasource. If you are using DataTable to bind the grid, you can use Select() method to search the records.

Actually I am planning for that it will search for the criteria in all the column in datagrid. Search criteria is not restricted to only one column. So is there any method or event in datagrid which can help me.
