What is it that you are trying to do? If you are trying to change where your compiled code gets stored after a build, you'll need to go into the project configuration and there you can change the path of your builds.

add 20 to the front of it ? Your question isn't making much sense, I'm afraid. Do you have this as a number, or a string ? what's the hard bit, are you assuming all dates are in the past, or not ?

You can use DateTime.Parse or DateTime.ParseExact, and DateTime.ToString methods
and apply a "Custom DateTime Format String"
the format specifiers "y", "yy" and "yyyy" need your attention;
look it up on MSDN

I have that same problem, a log from a third party program begins each line with YYMMDD, so my reader class has
private static readonly string Century = ( System.DateTime.Now.Year / 100 ).ToString() ;
then when I read in a line from the log, I do
date = Century + line.Substring ( 0 , 6 ) ;

Hi all,
My requirement is "Comparing two versions of the same document (word)side by side graphically" .
In brief:
I have a DataBase table called "DocumentTable" that contains column fields "DocStatus" , "DocLocation" , "DocName", "Supercede"
'DocLocation' column field holds file location information
'DocName' column field holds name of the document
'DocStatus' column field tells the status of the Document (like '0', '1')
'Supercede' column field holds the information of previous version of the file
So, when DocStatus value is '1' then my application should get (dynamically) the current version of the file from the location specified in 'DocLocation' field and the copy of previous version stored in other location and then compare these two versions side-by-side graphically.
So all, please let me know if anyone has some idea about how to implement or any suggestions to proceed.
I appreciate your time and thanks in advance.

is this your first project? if so, I suggest something simpler.
if you ever did a Windows app, you would already know several System namespaces.
And how do you expect to get your input, the waveforms you are going to show?

I'm playing around with the MMC Authorization Manager attempting to setup some role based security for a new project.
The software I'm developing is for a smaller sized businesses. We're the type of place where one day the operations manager is filling the shoes of the accountant because the accountant called in sick, or is on vacation. As a result, my system needs to be flexible when it comes to authorization.
I can foresee situations where I may want to allow tasks for a user without necessarily making them part of a role (that would expose everything).
Sure I could make additional roles that add only the tasks a specific user may need. If I end up with a lot of specialized cases (which I might) that gets ugly to manage. I really don't want the system to become a nightmare of single-case roles each with one or two users.
Has anyone encountered this type of scenario and what was done about it?
Also, before the flames start, I realize my question isn't directly related to C# but since there is no security group (And my app is going to be written in C#) this seems the least off topic place to post.

I have an object containing a lot of data and I am moving it from one System.Collections.Generic.Queue to another. I actually have a lot of these objects and I am moving them around from Queue to Queue.
I assume that the act of removing the object from one Queue and adding it to another copies the entire object (at least once per move) and I am worried about the overhead incurred by this. Is there a way to allocate these large buffers of memory by myself and free them when I'm done so they don't keep getting copied from place to place? Is this a case where I have to use unsafe code?

Hi,
I think you are completely wrong about this; if you create an object, you
allocate some memory and get a reference, that's what the "new" keyword does for you.
Think of the reference as a pointer, if that suits you.
You now can copy that reference, you now have to variables referencing the same
object; no data got copied, it is just the pointer value that got copied.
You can store a reference in a collection (an array, a List, a Queue, whatever),
that does not move any data, it simply copies the pointer.
Things would be different if you were to serialize your object, e.g. because
you want to pass it to another AppDomain, or to another machine entirely.
But as long as your object stays inside an AppDomain, no data gets copied.
As a final test, you can do the following:
byte[] bigArray=new byte[100*1024*1024];
ArrayList list=new ArrayList();
for (int i=0; i<1000; i++) list.Add(bigArray);
The above creates a 100MB array, then stores it 1000 times in a list.
Did that require 100GB of RAM?
Run it with a stopwatch; could you get that amount of data copied in that short
a time?

Not at all. The only thing that you are moving is a reference. On a 32 bit system that is only four bytes.
There is no automatic copying of objects in .NET. If you want to create a copy of an object, you have to explicitly do so.

Have any of you out the had good success with a licensing vendor? I'm currently evaluating different vendors and have not had much luck getting decent reviews. I should mention that we don't have time and management does not want to write our own.

Hello everyone,
I need your help in finding a Maths Operator. This is what I am looking for:

Double C = A % B;
Double D = ??????
I know that I can use the reminder and calculate the quotient. But I was wondering if there is an operator which I can use to avoid the mathematically calculating the quotient.

Because both A and B are integers a simple division would give it to you but generally you can use Casting to do that
double q=(int)(A/B);

Hi,
if A and B are both integer types (i.e. not float, not double), then A/B will
yield the integer quotient; you can store that in an integer variable, but also
in a float/double, without cast. Hence double q=A/B;
But as soon as one of the operands is a real number, the real quotient will be
calculated.
