This works without any problems:
TcpChannel myChannel = new TcpChannel();
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(myChannel, false);
ICustomer objCustomer = (ICustomer)Activator.GetObject(typeof(ICustomer), "tcp://localhost:8000/Customer.rem");
BindingList<ICustomer> customers = objCustomer.GetCustomers(); My form has a binding source which I set the DataSource property to the customers object. The form also has a Binding Navigator which pulls form the BindingSource.
If I set the AllowNew property on the customers list to true I get the "+" icon on the BindingNavigator. Exactly what I want.
However, when I click that icon it attempts to make a new object of the interface type ICustomer. Obviously not possible.
So, I handle the AddingNew event of the list with this:
void customers_AddingNew(object sender, AddingNewEventArgs e)
{
ICustomer newCustomer = (ICustomer)Activator.GetObject(typeof(ICustomer), "tcp://localhost:8000/Customer.rem");
e.NewObject = newCustomer;
}
Sadly, that gives me the error:
"Because of security restrictions, the type System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjRef cannot be accessed."
I've read up on this err and found that if you change the typeFilterLevel of your remoting formatter it would work. I'd prefer not to do that.

If they changed this behavior in .Net 2.0 than it was probably for a good reason. There has to be another way to do this? Is it not best practice to code towards interface types? What's the solution for dynamic lists over remoting when using interface types?

I need to develop a program that will automatically find all the entries of another program in registry and automatically delete those entries.
Currently, when some installation problem occurs, i can neither install nor uninstall one of my developed software. So I need to manually remove all the entries from registry. I need to make it automatic by running a C# application. Can anyone help me in this regard?
One more thing, i don't even know accurately which files to delete. I usually search registry by the software name and remove them from registry. Now how can i implement the whole thing ?
Please help me in this issue. thanks...

When I create a new VB control library, it creates a skeleton, which Builds fine.
When I create a new C# control library, it creates a skeleton, which gives the following build message:
Warning 1 Invalid search path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\SDK\v1.1\Lib\' specified in 'LIB environment variable' -- 'The system cannot find the path specified. '
I've searched the project, and nowhere is this path referenced. The project properties LIB path is blank.
I am using VS.Net 2005.
Any help?

Taking a wild stab in the dark, i'd say that your LIB environment variable specifies that path, and that that path does not exist.
Environment variables are configured through control panel, system, advanced, environment variables.

Background: I am building a custom XML editor slash encryption tool.
I am having a problem dealing with multiple people accessing the same file (or a single person accessing the same file). What I am looking to do is if the file is currently open the user is prompted that the file is already open and only has read access.
Right now the user can open a file that is already open, then when either people with the same file go to save an error is thrown and the file is locked against any saving.
So my question is:
1)Is there a way to check if a file is already open?
2)If the file is open, the original person who opened keeps writing privilege well the other user is only given read access?
3)Can I prevent the file from being locked?

My guess is the Close() method was not called on a previous instance of the FileStream. From your sample code there is no reference to the FileStream.

The FileStream is called in the ZipFile call.
It seems to be sort of working now, what is mean is if I open 2 copies of the "Encryptor" tool the first one that access's the file always has read and write. The second one only gets read access, and never gets write access even after the first one is closed. From what I understand it should be given write access after the first one is closed. The code never actual gets into that catch statement as it does pass through the try statement.
