Hi!
i m developing web portal in C# asp.net web application. i want to display image in hyperlink control rather than text. i can do it by using hyperlink's property that is 'imageurl', but problem is that in hyperlink,image displays in actual size not in that size which i have given in hyperlink height and width property.
can u plz tell me how i can restrict size of hyperlink upto my own requirment i mean i want to display all the images in hyperlink of size 100/100,even if image actual size is 500/500. just as i can do in image control.No matter how big image is but it always displays in that fixed size which i give to it.

Before I start, let me just say that if you want the images to display as 100x100, then it would be best and easier to simply resize the image and save it that way. However here are some options:
1) The easiest is to use HTML controls (an anchor "A" tag wrapped around an image "IMG" tag) instead of server controls. This is what is being rendered for you right now anyway when you are using the ImageUrl property of the Hyperlink control. The problem with it is that it doesn't set the Height and Width of the IMG element, it sets it for the A element. This is your best alternative.
2) If you are using the Hyperlink control because you want to use it for a postback event, then use the ImageButton control instead. The height and width properties of the ImageButton control will work in this case.

I'm using the following HTML code in emails to make the words move from up to down....
it works with Hotmail but it dosent work with Yahoo!....why?
I used the code which make the words move from right to left and it works with both Yahoo! and Hotmail
why the code of up to down or down to up dosent work with Yahoo??!!
while the code of right to left or left to right works with Yahoo

Hi
I want to have a link that upon clicking on it, it open SaveAs Dialog for saving a file. Just like we have the file URL and we right click on it and click Save Target As... I want to do it with just one click.

Is there a way to manipulate a server control with client script?
I have a System.Web.UI.WebControls.Menu control on my page. When the user selects a particular style sheet from a select control, I want to change the Orientation property of the Menu control from "Horizontal" to "Vertical".
How can I go about this?

you can store something in a hidden field that causes it to change on the server, and do a postback.

Render the supplied html in both ie6 and firefox, and look at the middle two red table cells on the top row. In IE, the left cell is MUCH wider than it is in firefox. Firefox is displaying it the way I think it should be displayed.
BTW, I'm on a 19-inch 1280x1024 display.

The standard for the width of a container type element is the with of its content. However, IE6/IE7 in non STRICT mode adds the content plus the padding plus the border into the width of the container element. To avoid this, use the HTML 4.0 Strict doctype or higher.

Changing the doctype had absolutely no affect in either IE or FireFox. Besides that, the problem I cited is not merely content + border + padding.

You have only specified the minimum with of the cells (that's how tables work), so the browser can choose the size of the cells freely, as long as they are at least the size that you specified.
If you use tables for layout and don't want the browser to make any decisions about the size of cells, you have to specify the size for every single column in the table.

Tables are okay for a quick-and-dirty layout. However, the current trend suggests not using tables for layout but for displaying data that is best viewed in a grid. Man, I really hate html/css...
Here's some html that displays correctly in Firefox, but incorrectly in IE6. Can anyone tell me how to make it look the same in IE6?

Hello to all,
Which one is flexible/optimal solution to save uplaoded image.
Frist save image at server or from where you're site pages are save in any image folder and save only image name or link to database.
Secondly convert image to bite form then save whole bite form image to database.
My friends feel that second one is right choice, but i felt that frist one is correct as conversion procedure and retrival from database is completly time consuming and not correct from web hosting point of view.
Feel free to give all kind of suggestion.

Just 'cause you can doesn't mean you should. I don't believe the 2nd solution scales very well, or at least not as easily as the first.
Storing image files in a database increases managment overhead and maintenance windows for backups/restores. As the amount of image data stored increases you have to create separate filegroups for the image data. Then you have to put those filegroups on different disk arrays. But unless you can afford Enterprise Edition 2005 that's as far as you can scale. Ent Ed will allow you to partition the table across file groups and you can add new disk arrays to reduce the IO. But still you're only going to get so far before you've completely bloated your database and created all kinds of headaches. All of which involve figuring out how to scale UP, which is more expensive and not necessary in this case.
On the other hand if you store your images on a file server, when it fills up or becomes overloaded, you just change the path root used to store new images and you can scale OUT by adding a new server or location for the files. You can leave the old files where they are.

hi guys, I have created a web service and running fine. Then I added the asmx page in my web site project. Now i have to access this asmx page through windows form. but it give me an error that
"The request failed with the error message:

While i can access this web service page directly in browser, don't know why it has problem through windows form. Please tell me the solutioin. Thanks in advance....

How did you create the proxy to the web service? If you are using visual studio you can just add a web reference to the windows from and it should work just fine. I am thinking that you have a problem with your proxy to the web service, probably the url is incorrect.
