I guess my question is more along the lines of how would i know when the application had last raised an event without stepping in the middle of the event loop...A timer would work fine for figuring out when to show the dialog if an event has been raised...but how would I know when the last time an event was raised for my application?

I want to know how I can make a button do somthing like add "1" (eg, change 0 to 1. 1 to 2, etc.) to a numerical field, and subtract. Of course, there will be diferent buttons that eithradd or subtract the different values..
I'm basicly making a counter. There will be multiple buttons, like Add 1, Subtract 1, Add 10, subtract 10, etc, and a reset button to return it to 0.
Also, I plan to make a version where there will be 3 add buttons and 3 subtratc buttons, and a numerical field aove them allows you to customize the buttons effect on the number.
Can sombody tell me wha code to use for all this junk?

Gee - this seems to me like it's probably homework. I really don't see how I can respond without giving you code, which I don't want to do, if it's homework. What do you have already ? It does seem to me that if this is not for a class, you should be buying a book that teaches VB.NET on the console and working through it before you move to WinForms. And, if it's a class, your texts should tell you how to create a member variable, etc.

All of the books will tell you how to create a member variable, and how to change the value of a variable. That's all you're asking for here.

Take the variable public or private which you want to modify. For example
Dim Var1 as integer or
public var2 as integer
now add following code on click event of button
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
var1=var1+1
End Sub

I have a cuestion, i am creating forms in a access 2003, i know what this forum is to visual basic, but i usign vb to applications, this not vb completly but is similar.
Well, exist an method of get the handle id with the api functions?, i can't get the hwnd of controls in vb to applications, the function findwindow search the hwnd by title window, but controls are ignored, how i can get the hwnd to any control with api functions?, thanks very much fot your help.

how do i get crystal report to work on machine that doesn't have vb.net installed on it. I use the crystal report that comes with vb.net net, but it only works on my machine that has vb.net installed on it. can anyone help me or tell me what must i do to get it running on other machine with are without installation, ie. if i was to run just the exe file on that machine. what must i do, please help.

You need to have the crystal reports runtime on the machine you want to see the reports. If your using a setup kit to make the installation then add the crystal reports merge module.

You will need to have the runtime installed on the machine, you could probably check if you get a separate installation of the runtime files.

You automatically get sql express with vs2005. This is not a full blown version of sql server.
Here's some basics:
Supports 1 CPU, but can be installed on any server
• 1 gigabyte (GB) addressable RAM
• 4 GB maximum database size

sql 2005 and sql express 2005 both support an 8K row.

I've got a VB DLL (VB6) that displays a form with an MSHFlexGrid control that we allow the user to edit. We are displaying combo boxes, text boxes, and other controls to allow the user to edit the cell data when the user clicks in the cell. We've got code to adjust the size and location of the text box and combo box so it is as close to the size and position of the cell. What I'm finding, however, is that with some cells the size and position of the control is pretty close to the cell's size and location. In others, however, the position is noticeably off (as much as half the cell width and height). Here is the subroutine we are calling to position the text box. The code for positioning the combo boxes is similar.

The SelectText line above just selects all the text in the text box. The HandleErrorMsg line is just a sub in a BAS module that logs error information to a log file.
My question: Is there a better way to position the control over the cell so the difference in the cell's size and position and the control's size and position isn't so noticeably different?

Use Split function to split the string by "commas".
convert the resultant array into integer and pass them to the function.

Hi!
I've created a COM DLL in VC 6. When I use this in VB 6.0 it works fine.
But when I use it in VB.NET it gives me error which says "catastrophic failure"

One possible problem is the threading model that VB.NET uses, try setting it to STA. Just a stab in the dark.

please help me i cant debug and build my project it saved last time i was debugging and now when i go debug again i see no changes i made it shows me the debug before and the same when i go build, i tried to delete all files in bin/debug and bin/release but it don't works again please can someone help me?

Sounds to me like your code is broken, when it doesn't build, it will run the last version that built. Are you sure there are no errors ?

Dear Gurus,
I am using Imageviewer OCX control in VB to have overlying images and
then save it to PDF through the control itself.. I am succesful .
But now the problem is when I give these PDF files to users they may
extract it and they should get separate images. not the flattened image.
How to achieve this while pdf generation? Any programming alternative ?

I'm trying to get two values from my form posted to the next page using PreviousPage.FindControl
1st. Am i missing something here with .NET? I have a simple form with two drop downs on that i want to post to another page. I know about post back, but i really want it to go to the next page. IS there a simpler way?

On default.aspx i have a button called id="ButtonAccomm" it has a value of PostBackUrl="~/Accommodation-Hotels-Bed-Breakfast.aspx"
This posts to the desired page.
I'm trying to bind the values of the two drop downs to
a) 2 labels on the page to confirm the values (Called id=DDAccomm and id=DDPrice)
b) A copy of the original form on the next page with the values set to the amounts posted
In the .vb of the next page i have tried this
