Hi there. The AdRotator control doesn't really work that way - it selects a picture to display from your advertisements.xml file and doesn't apply a timer. A refresh on the page from the browser would allow AdRotator to potentially select a different, random picture.
But I suppose if you really needed a timer-based swap of images, you could use an AdRotator in an Atlas UpdatePanel. Atlas is Microsoft's AJAX implementation for ASP.NET.

I'm using DetailsView and ObjectDataSource, and I'm very happy with this combination. But I have one problem... Let's say what my BLL object has a method called Insert, and this method thrown on Exception (like duplicate keys, etc). How I get this error in my Asp.Net page? Who call the Insert method is the Asp.Net via reflection, and give not chance to me protect inside a try-catch... has no event handlers like "OnError" neither in DetailsView, neither in ObjectDataSource ....
Then, what the method recommended? Someone has a idea?

You can create a handler for the Inserted event of the ObjectDataSource and check the e.Exception of the event data (ObjectDataSourceStatusEventArgs) to see if there is any exception thrown by the insert method. You can do the same thing with the ItemInserted of the DetailsView control.

Just one observation: This isn't intuitive... the Inserted event, in theory, is raised only if one item was inserted, i.e., has not exceptions...

Actually, the Inserted event occurs in two common cases:
+ After an item is inserted.
+ And when an exception is thrown from the Insert method, it means if your Insert method throws any exception, it should be captured by the ObjectDataSource ( or more exactly the ObjectDataSourceView) and wrapped in the event data object.

i have built and deployed websites in my learning process gearing myself for when i leave colleg, but ithink is time i move on to the next stage and learn the following
1. encrypt database
2. encrypt the data been request and sent from server which was retirved from the database to clients page, so that they can view the detials
i was wondering if anyone could point me into some tutorials to do this

was doing some reading and i suessing the process that i would have to take is to retrieve the information from the database and encrypt and then store the encrypted value in a cookie and then access the cookie to display the information on the webpage ????????????????? is this the correct line of thought...because its a full encryption i want to do, i want to simulate that i am wrking with sensitive data

Hi
I want to develop a small intranet application involving a server and around 10 clients in a small office environment with login and password . Where the server admin has the rights to monitor all clients and their mails but the individual client can only access his mails and data.
Could any body help me out for this it would be a gr8 help.

hi, I am doing a project that allow customer to fill in all the details, billing card info at MY website, when click pay, their info will be submitted to 2checkout to process, then return back to my webpage

but, it not allow me to auto process payment and then back to my webpage...
How can I do a payment function similar to checkout function in those shopping cart?

You cannot do the processing of data such as credit card number and name by yourself. It wouldn't be secure now, would it?
These online payment providers handle customer sensitive data.

Hi all,
I am trying to create login and password recovery page ASP.NET2.0.
I have user login and password stored in table in the database.
I am using Login and password recovery controls. I am handling "Authenticate" event of login control.
During the password recovery, I generate new password and send email to the user at specified address. To handle this which event of passwordprecovery should be handled?
I have handled SendingEmail event, but when I checked in debug, I found that control does not go there on ButtonSubmit click.
Can anyone suggest me, how can I do this. If someone has demo on this, that will be really helpful.

If you want to see the SendingEmail event working, you need to make sure that the you provider the Membership provider for the application, also the user is existing in the system. Otherwise, you need to look at the UserLookupError. If you want to control to generate the password on your own, you can provider your custom membership provider, or create an event handler for the VerifyingUser event. In the handler, you basically do a checking on provided username, reset the password, send an email if necessary, then remember to set the Cancel property to true.

Hi i m very new to asp.net(C#)...i m working in a very small company ..and my PC connected with network but i have own IIS5.0 server..I have created a hello world test.aspx page on visual studio.net environment. when i run my programme then i got "***Error while trying to run project : Unable to start debugging on the web server. The server does not support debugging as ASP.NET or ATL Server application. Run setup to install the Visual Studio.Net server components. If setup has been run verify that a valid URL has been Specified.****" what can i do for above error. tell me all steps to run my first asp.net page.

second one is flash file .swf
In the .aspx page i have 2 textboxes
That textbox's data i want to send to flash file (i.e second page)
I want to display the textbox's data in flash file(.swf)
