How to upload the file form client to server without Browse button.
I want to upload the file from client's C:\abc.txt file to server on click of
normal ASP BUTTON.

Considering this would be a substantial security risk so I doubt there is a way to do it with just ASP.net/html/javascript. Although, you may be able stick together a java applet that does it... I'm not sure.

When I Debug any ASP.NET Applicaion 1.1, It is unable to Debug with the message below:
"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server"
I have checked all of guides below however all of it not solve my problem, However I can Debug any ASP.NET Application 2.0, I found that When I have installed Visual Studio 2005, I unable to Debug any ASP.NET Application 1.1
Are there any conflict?
How can I do to Debug ASP.NET 1.1 ???

Things to Check
If you get an "Unable to start debugging on the Web server" error, try checking the following things:
* Are you running a version of Windows that allows the Visual Studio debugger to automatically attach to a Web application? If not, you need to launch the application without debugging and manually attach to it. (For more information, see Manually Attaching and ASP.NET Debugging: System Requirements.)
* Does your Web application have a Web.config file?
o Does the Web.config file enable debug mode) by setting the debug attribute to true? For more information, see Debug Mode in ASP.NET Applications.
o Does the Web.config file contain any syntax errors? You can check for syntax errors by running the Web application without debugging. (From the Debug menu, choose Start Without Debugging.) If there are syntax errors in Web.config, detailed information will be displayed.
* You need to be a member of the Debugger Users group or an administrator if the ASP.NET worker process runs under your own user account.
* You need to be a member of the Administrators group if the ASP.NET worker process runs under any other user account besides your own.
* Did you create the project by specifying a specific IP address (100.20.300.400, for example)? Debugging a Web server requires NTLM authentication. By default, IP addresses are assumed to be part of the Internet, and NTLM authentication is not done over the Internet. To correct this problem:
o When creating the project, specify the name of the machine on your intranet.
-or-
o Add the IP address (http://100.20.300.400) to the list of trusted sites on your computer. (From the Internet Explorer Tools menu, choose Internet Options, and then select the Security tab).
* Does the machine running IIS server have Visual Studio .NET Remote Components installed?
* Was IIS installed on the local machine (the machine running Visual Studio .NET) after Visual Studio .NET was installed? IIS should be installed before Visual Studio .NET. If it was installed afterwards, you may need to repair the .NET Framework.
To repair the .NET Framework
o Insert the Visual Studio .NET disc and enter as one line at the command line:

To check IIS security settings for the Default Web Site
1. From the Start menu, choose Programs, then Administrative Tools, and click Internet Services Manager (Windows 2000) or Internet Information Services (Windows XP).
2. In the Internet Services Manager or Internet Information Services dialog box, click the tree control for your machine. In the Web Sites folder, find Default Web Site.
3. Right-click Default Web Site and choose Properties.
4. In the Default Web Site Properties window, select the Directory Security tab and click Edit.
5. In the Authentication Methods dialog box, select Anonymous Access and Integrated Windows Authentication (if not already selected).
6. Click OK to close the Internet Services Manager or Internet Information Services dialog box.

Hi
mesage indicates that the issue is with the IIS.
Try Reseting the IIS by typing "iisreset" in the command prompt.... Even if the issue continues, u may reiinstall the IIS and check if it helps...

Thanks, I was hoping for sights that are harder to find, like the ones I listed. I tend to start with CodeProject and then go from there. MSDN is always an excellent source of information on Windows related programming issues. I should have placed a ‘*’ next to the second link, because that was the one that helped the most with figuring out some problems.
My main goal is to save time in finding research materials, and people keep referencing good sights that I did not find during my searches.

For the first two sites, I'd normally use the search functionality of the site to look for what I want to know. For the online MSDN, I'd better use the king Google to search on this site as the search of MSDN is not as good as the site. Also, as I'm familiar with the structure of the MSDN (both local and online), I can quickly narrow the scope of my searching, for example with the ASP.NET[^] from the left pane. As you already know that, with VS 2005 you have more options to do your search quickly with the Community menu item.

Ya, I use Google a lot. The MSDN has tons of good information, but finding it is the trick. I have already recorded the location of the ASP.NET information sections I will probably need.
I just discovered that one of the CodeProject partners is ASPAlliance, which looks like a good jumping off point for my research.

I have some authentication issue while running my ASP.net application in the 'Mozilla' WebBrowser. Actually, the authentication is done by using the ADS and the pages that retrieve the ADSI ID displays an error message as "[COMException (0x80072020): An operations error occurred]"..... The same pages loads and works fine with the IE.... Authentication is set to "Basic Authentication". Please do help, I am very new to this... I have done a long search through google but coldnt find a solution. Hope you will help me out....
Any help will be much appriciated..

If you want a faster result then may I suggest a paid service where you pay money for someone to give you a faster response. If you want it for free then you have to wait until someone can help you. And it does not help your case when you make ungrateful comments like "i'm still waiting..."

+ Which authentication mode are you using? More information about your authentication setting could help.
+ What does your sample code look like?
+ What is the actual error as the "An operations error occurred" does not give much information?

I am using the "Windows" Authentication mode
In the web.config file the mode is set to

How do you call the getADSILoginName method? Which value do you pass to the method in the userName parameter? Here, you are using the Windows authentication mode, so I guess that you may want to authenticate the user based on the log-on account againts the Active Directoty of the specified domain. And the user which you may use to pass in to the method is the HttpContext.Current.User (or use the WindowsIdentity to get the current identity). So in the case of Mozilla, you may try to debug your application, check the username value and compare it with the value when IE is used (I guess it's empty in the case of Mozilla). Basically, when you configure to use the Integrated Windows authentication at the IIS, the IE can automatically sends the current log-on account to the server for the authentication, but it won't happen with the Mozilla, and it requires you to configure in the user config file of the browser. If this is the case, you can see this site[^] as an example on how to set it.
Btw, you need to encrypt the < and > or check the "..." checkbox when you post a message as I couldn't see the authentication and authorization settings.

One more question: My application is on a remote machine and if I want to access it through the network, what should I specify instead of "localhost" in the user config file (Mozilla). For example, the server name is "jack" in which the application is installed and if i want to access the application throughout the network, what should I do? I tried "remotehost", but did not help.
Is there any other solution to change the browser settings during runtime? I meant, coding in the .net page to change the user config file of the browser.

The uri may look something like : http://jack for the entire jack server. You might also have a look at the documentation of the right version of the browser for the correct configuration.

I don't think you can programmatically set the user settings as it should belong to the user. If it's possible, then IMO there must be a hole of security there. Would you want a web page to change your configurations in your machine when you launch it in the browser?

1) I can run the project fine by changing the user config file to localhost as you suggested in my machine.
What should I set in the user config file of Mozilla browser(in other machine) instead of "localhost", to access the http://rijjjesh/project1/testpage.aspx without any errors from another machine?
Should I change the value or keeping it as "localhost" will work?
I want a web page to change the user configurations of the browser once it is loaded.... is it possible?
