Thanks a lot for help, Can you give me some links where i can find some samples of Broadcasting and also i came to know that Broadcasting Requires Administrative Permissions on the machine and not every machine reponds to it, is it so ? or is there any other way out ?

actually it is very typical task !
First you have to enumerate the machine present on your network.. Now AFAIK socket connection doesnot need any administrative permission... so you can send udep socket to all the machine present in the network enquirying about wheather you application is running or not and increment teh counter whenever you recv the reply!

On my current project I'm trying to include some sound. Now I have worked out how to use some of the MCI functions and messages to play my wav files.
Currently I have a looping background wav, and sevral other 'sound' wavs which are played depending on the users actions. (clicking a button etc..) Problem is, it sounds awful. Everything plays without a hitch, but the volume levels are just plain wrong. Most of my code is based on this tutorial http://www.codeproject.com/audio/mididemocp.asp with a few additions of my own.
Now my question is, how do you manipulate the volume levels of the files? My background music plays at the correct volume, but the other sounds are too quiet. Using the waveOutSetVolume() does not do what I need, it simply adjusts the windows global wave volume level. Also I must point out that I do not want to use DirectX or the MFC classes in this project.

Am trying to access a C++ win32 DLL (32bit) from an .exe project by dynamically loading the DLL as under;
Handle THandle;
errval Integer;
Handle=LoadLibrary("C:\\my folder\\testdll.dll");
if( Handle == NULL )
cout<<GetLastError()<<endl;;
I found that Handle is always set to 0, even if I try putting in the full path.
GetLastError is returning 182 which I believe is an Invalid Ordinal.
Anyone got any idea why LoadLibrary might be returning this error? It looks to
me as if there's something wrong with the DLL.
Also when I tried to load the DLL manually in the registry by typing the following under Start Menu->Run
regsvr32 C:\my folder\testdll.dll
Nothing happens, the command just gets back to the last window open.
Any ideas?

I think you are correct! Try the obvious - right-click on the file and see if you can view its properties (version information from the resources), or try to open it up as resources using the debugger. Maybe try a tool like depends.
Trying to open the DLL proper in the debugger should help you determine if it is a valid Win32 executable.

Hello,
I am using VC++ & my application shows some wave-forms like sine wave & square wave. Here I want to show VC++ waveforms on the browser.
So which tool I need to integrate with my application?
How can I show my waveforms on the Browser?
If I click on Browser UI buttons, according to that wave from should take from my VC++ application & show it on the browser.

It depends somewhat if you are using MFC or not.
I think you could make it an OCX.
Start with an ATL/Com project (if you need MFC, then check its checkbox), then insert a Full control into the project. It will give you a OnDraw() etc function in which you can draw the waveforms.
However this may not be the only way or the easiest.

About the html/applet support, I have never tried those. I hope someone else can help you with that.

How are you trying to catch the exception?
If you can catch the exception using a catch all (catch(...)), then you are likely not catching the MFC exception correctly.
Remember that MFC exceptions are caught by pointer, not by reference or value. And you must call Delete() off of the caught exception pointer if you do not re-throw it.

I want to execute an internal command in my program.
e.g. ren a.txt b.txt
winexec and ShellExecute do not execute internal commands.
system() executes it;
system("ren a.txt b.txt");
it wors fine; but shows consol window which i donot want to show.
Is there a way to execute the internal command without showing the consol window?
